Does anyone know what the scale is of the 8109 Flatbed. If not can anyone tell me the overall length of the truck and the height of the cab. Thanks

Carry out the following steps:

1. Go to www.lego.com

2. At the bottom left, you'll find "Building instructions". Click that

3. In the new window you find a search bar. Type 8109 in it

4. Click Search

5. Below the search block you will find links to the building instructions of the set you searched for.

6. Download and view building instructions with any application that can view a PDF. Nearly every computer has such a program.

7. Count the studs. Every stud is 8 mm, you can use that to convert to centimeter measurements, which you can divide by the measurements of a real truck to find out the scale. E.g. if a model is 12 cm wide and the real truck is 240 cm wide, then the scale is 12 : 240 = 1 : 20.

I've already tried that, but it is rather difficult to see the whole of the units that make up the length and height. I was hoping that someone who has one of these models could just put a ruler over it. I am trying to see if it's an appropriate scale to go with a 1/14 scale forklift model.

41cm Long (with the rear lift mechanism in)

12cm Wide (plus mirrors)

16cm High (Up to roof lights)

I'll let you workout what scale it is.

Thanks Brendan, just what I wanted. I think that makes the scale around 1:18.

What I always do: Google for "lego 8109 (or other model) dimensions" and you will almost instantly find the size of the model.

And welcome to EB!! default_classic.gif

Your welcome, it was an easy task because I had just made it and it was on the shelf. That scale is good and should work well with some of my 1:18 diecast cars.
