Sir E Fullner Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 It sure has been a while since I posted in this forum. I was very busy with the Pirate MOC's , and now I have a new MOD to show all of the LEGO Train lovers out there. London & Northeastern Railway 4-4-0 I got the inspiration after playing around with some of the large drive wheels on LDD, and then I started in on making a locomotive, sort of close to Edward from Thomas the Tank Engine. I added some dark orange coaches, and then I saw the spirit of the LNER. I re-colored the engine to LNER Apple Green, and there you have it. More pictures: A view of the coaches: For the coaches, I remembered a design I did for my Caledonian Bell MOD. Inside is the basic 3rd-1st-3rd class design I usually use. Thank you for looking, and please rate and comment. Thanks! Always entertaining, always inspiring, always: Quote
tbroyd Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Especially like the coaches . Really have the right character Quote
twenty6twelve Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Interesting MOC. The coaches look quite nice, especially the doors and roofs. If I may offer some constructive criticism - from your description it seems that you were building a model based on the television character and then altered the color scheme to match that of the LNER locomotive. In this respect it does not really resemble a D class, save for color and wheel arrangement.. as a D class has outside cylinders, green splashers, a shorter dome and funnel, different side cab window arrangements, etc. However, I realize that your intention may not have been to model said locomotive closely rather than to aim for a 'ballpark' resemblance. Another thing I noticed are the seemingly contrasting building styles present; while the coaches use colors, parts and techniques that mesh well with recently released sets, the locomotive is presented in a more subdued, simplistic style using 'plainer' bricks reminiscent of 12v era locomotives. While nice individually I find their combination slightly visually jarring.. ..please note that I mean no disrespect or discouragement in my comments; I merely mean to provide helpful suggestions. Chromeknight Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Those coaches are nice. It's a shame those windows aren't commonly available in that colour. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Great cad project! The wagons are beautiful! Quote

Leg godt No disrespect taken. I can see your idea, and I think that I'll remember that on my next locomotive. In the mean time, thanks. Quote
