ApophisV Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Just returning from this movie I have to tell you about it... ;) I saw it in the Sneak Preview, though it was sure that they would show it tonight.... First of all: Jim Carrey is doing the most excellent performance I've seen since long time (at least as an real comedian, I don't count Truman Show since this is a much more intelectual role he plays there).... He is acting as great as he did in "The Mask", very funny and very great!! The whole stages and props of the movie are looking very well and stylish too, they support the crazy and melancholy atmosphere very much... Actually the whole movie has this amazing atmosphere, from the beginning to the end, its funny, melancholy, sometimes a bit sad, but almost all the time also a bit crazy and wierd (exactly how i like it... ;)) Oh, and there is the funniest and cutest infant I've ever seen in a film!!! :D So go watching it folks!!! This movie is great. I seen it about a month and a half ago but would love to see it again. When you watch this movie look for Jim Carey doing his Dolphin like impression just like he did in Ace Ventura. I don't want to spoil the movie for you so I will stop but I have to say this movie has a very strong Harry Potter feel to it. Quote
ApophisV Posted January 27, 2005 Author Posted January 27, 2005 I'd say it's more Tim-Burton'ish... A mixture between Sleepy Hollow, Adams family and maybe a little bit of Potter.... ;) Quote
The Middleman Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Yes, Lemony Snicket is pretty damn awesome. I've been a fan of the books since day one (literally). Have all first editions. In addition, I've met the author four times during signings and had breakfast with him once. He's a really, really, really awesome guy. Quote
jonfett Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 In addition, I've met the author four times during signings and had breakfast with him once. Well, unless the author was wearing a mask or purposely looking away I am pretty sure he saw his face ;) Jon. Quote
The Middleman Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 You can see it too. Just do a search for Daniel Handler - his real name. Quote
