BrickPicker Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Excellent work. The trees and ground look fantastic. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Superb & huge scene! Stunning vegetation and large standing army! Quote
tman684 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 great job! I wish I had that many scout troopers. Quote
Huntleyfx Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 The clash of the Imperial colors up against the vegetation and the Rebels really add to the scene. Great work! Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Wow! this Diorama has so much detail put into it, even on the poses of the minifigs. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 This is magnificent! You've done an amazing job of recreating the scene. The bunker looks spot on, the AT-ST is fantastic, and you have laid out the figures exactly like the movie. You've done a great job with the trees and greenery too. Fantastic MOC! Quote
Praiter Yed Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Yet another beautiful creation Markus1984! There's nothing I can add to what has already been said, the bunker, the trees/vegetation and placing of the minifigs all expertly done. And, of course it's nice to see your version of Brickdoctor's excellent AT-ST making an appearance. As always, I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. Quote

DFOL Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I thought i already left a comment on this topic, but apparently i didn't yet. No time like the present to add my praise to the many compliments you've already received so far. Well done on this excellent creation, each time this topic bumps to the top i just feel drawn to look at the pictures to admire all the detailing on every bit and part of the build. It is both accurate and beautifully made, what more can anyone wish for? Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) Impressive, Most impressive Outstanding diorama Edited July 2, 2012 by AudiBobaR5-D2 Quote
skayen Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Hi, I, too, think your diorama is outstanding. I like the way you've faded the larger trees in the forest into a clearing for the bunker, including having layers of smaller trees and green tiles: it makes your work look really striking. I don't want to undermine your work---because it really is extremely impressive---but in the spirit of thoughtful comments as 'food for thought' rather than just stunned awe, I was wondering if you've thought about / tried rounding out the tree trunks? Although I appreciate that the different tile heights adds to the bark texture, the trunks still look very square. Perhaps you could try adding another layer of tiles in the middle of each side and with careful (/randomised;-) use of the 2/3 slopes on the edges you might be able to give a more rounded look to your trunks while maintaing the bark-look? cheers, John Quote
Lieutenant_Colonel_Fifi Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 (edited) Those big trees are better than I could ever make them. Oh BTW, the best way to do big trees is to use 4x4 round bricks, with 1x8 brown plates on stud pegs in the holes on the sides. Just a friendly suggestion. Think you could do Kashyyyk? LOL, just kidding. Edited July 3, 2012 by Lieutenant_Colonel_Fifi Quote
tvih Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Nice! Looks great, with plenty of figs... I wish I had that many stormtroopers I'm planning on some sort of Endor-ish MOC diorama eventually as well, but that'll take quite some time to get around to. Quote
Super Brick Collector Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Now this is a good build. Iv been working on this scene for a while. I'll be using some ideas from your moc. Quote

LOL, just kidding. yeah, i know the problem with the big angular trees But when I was finally ready I've only noticed they seem a bit square, then i had no motivation more to break down again all trees and make it new. But i will catch up of course Quote
DFOL Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I don't know if using 4x4 round bricks with plates along the sides is a better looking solution though. In my opinion the current construction method works fine. Building the trees out of smaller bricks does allow you to more easily vary the shape and thickness of the tree and also allows for a more random placement of branches and leaves, to create a more natural look. The only improvement i can think of for future projects is to make the trees less square. Quote
