Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Does anyone know the color of the Lion Knight battle pack's minifig arms? Here: The arms are red. Here, the arms are gray. Does anyone know the actual color, and has anyone seen if a few packs are still left in stock? Quote
Combee Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 According to the inventory on BrickLink, 3 have gray arms and 2 have red arms. Quote
SirBlake Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I can confirm this. Just picked this one up last week at my local LEGO Store, and the two archer torsos have red arms, the rest have grey. This is consistent with the minifigs I've gotten in every other set. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Thank you Combee and SirBlake. Also, I'm going to my local store Thursday, how many packs were left? The inventory could be similar. Quote
natesroom Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 where is this at???? I didnt see it at my store is this everywhere? Quote
Bearded Castle Guy Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 where is this at???? I didnt see it at my store is this everywhere? I'm guessing it's at one of the European LEGO stores given the way the USA store tend to turn over inventory. My definition of turning over inventory in this case is less on the volume side and more on the structure of the tax laws that encourages most retailers to eliminate stock that either under-performing or old. From what I recall of it, the Battlepacks in the USA were Kingdoms wave 1 only, I know I never saw any during the second Wave , though that was a much shortened release. @natesroom, if you want Kingdoms Minifigures look at the new Kingdoms Chess set, it's a great deal..... Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 @natesroom, if you want Kingdoms Minifigures look at the new Kingdoms Chess set, it's a great deal..... I just looked at it on lego.com. That is a great deal. $50 for 28 minifigs, vs. $45 for 15. (3 battle packs) Hopefully they have the chess set in stores when I go. Quote
SirBlake Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I'm guessing it's at one of the European LEGO stores given the way the USA store tend to turn over inventory. I got mine in DFW (near Dallas), Texas. There were two lions, one of which I bought, and 5 or 6 dragons. $15 each. Chess set is a better deal per fig, but there are tons in that set that I just don't have a use for. Quote
natesroom Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Someone mentioned the figurines in the chess set are from China, and don't show the same quality of parts as the original Waves of castle figs Edited June 11, 2012 by natesroom Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Someone mentioned the figurines in the chess set are from China, and don't show the same quality of parts as the original Waves of castle figs I think they are. Probably. The Dragon ones look yellowish, just like the battlepack ones. What a rip-off, 50 bucks for minifigs with no extra quality. Still, it is a better deal than the battle packs. Quote

I find that some chinese made 'figs seem pretty obviously of a somewhat more translucent quality than the ABS used in the European 'figs and other are hard to tell apart. You might want to call your store of choice before you visit if you are going just for either the Battlepacks or the Chess set. My local store hasn't had any Battlepack's approaching in a time frame approaching a year now. They also didn't have any Kingdom's Chess Set's in either. Quote

I haven't been able to get many of them so i was thinking of upping my army i need to decide if the quality is there. That way when im buying them on BL i'll be able to better tell which is the better version if its not listed. Quote

You can see side by side pictures of Dragon knights on page 2 of the Battle Pack review in the index. The Chinese ones appear more yellowish than normal. Quote

D'oh! That was confusing! On the LEGO shop website it shows close up pictures. I think the third picture of the set you can zoom in on shows minifig close ups. They look like the chinese ones. (As they are yellowish.) It makes sense, 28 minifigs would be pretty expensive, so they use the cheap plastic. Quote

Capt.JohnPaul Posted June 12, 2012 Author Posted June 12, 2012 I'm not familiar with them, so does that impact the longevity of them? I'm unsure. I hear the hands grip the weapons looser. But I have some collectible minifigs, which I hear is also cheap plastic. They feel a bit different, but I don't see a major difference. Quote
