Jurescianence Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Hi all, I can´t decide between 9398 and 8110. Please, help me decide. Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Except for the new motors, 9398 doesn't impress me that much. Assuming 9398 ends up being the same price as 8110, I'd take 8110 over 9398 any day. Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 You will be able to get the new (PF-)parts at S@H once the set is out. (Sometimes even earlier...) Quote
dr_spock Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 You can also get a discount on PF from Lego Shop@Home if you order a certain amount of PF parts. 8110, if you want something to build now. Quote
Peter81 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Next view months 8110 will be your only option, since the crawler is not availble yet. 8110 is a good platform to add any machine you can imagine. 9398 Seems to have good RC features. Will those new motors make that much of a difference? I doubt, but hope they do. There are rock crawlers on youtube doing spectacular climbing with the current motors. Quote
sama Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 8110 all the way . You have ample time to get 9398 but because 8110 is a licensed set, it will be out of production faster. Anyways, it is a very big and beautiful set! Quote
T_Tank Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 8110 an then make the crawler axles work for the chassi like i did >.> though want those L motors cause have a feeling it will move alot better with those compared to m motores External Under the cab under the truck wheel removed belly view Quote
Paul Boratko Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I think as far as advanced building style and technique goes, the 8110 looks to be your best option... It just depends on what you are looking for.. Both sets are miles apart in functions... Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Based upon what I've seen of the 9398, I'd go with the 8110, its an awesome vehicle with lots of functions... Quote
Jurescianence Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 I´ll buy 4x8110, 8653, 8258, 8043, 8436, 2x8275, 4x8547, 8297, 8421, 8063, 8265, 8292, 8264, 8419, 8293, 4xPower Puller wheel+tire, 1xIR receiver and 1xXL motor. Quote
Tamas Juhasz Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 8110 contains more useful parts, imho that's a better deal if the prize is nearly the same. But 9398 has a servo motor, so hard to decide. Quote
Jurescianence Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 I´ll buy 4x8110, 8653, 8258, 8043, 8436, 2x8275, 4x8547, 8297, 8421, 8063, 8265, 8292, 8264, 8419, 8293, 4xPower Puller wheel+tire, 1xIR receiver and 1xXL motor. I forgot 2x9398 and 8455, and maybe 2x8094, 2x8485, 2x8480 and 2x8479. Quote
Jurescianence Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Are the sets written above good for spare parts? (gears, liftarms, moors, etc.) Quote
DLuders Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) @ Jurescianence: You can see what parts come in each Lego set by using the Bricklink Parts Inventory feature. For example, here is the Parts Inventory for the 8043 Motorized Excavator set. I used the following procedure: 1) Go to the Bricklink home page, and type in "8043" in the "Search" dropdown box at the top-center of that webpage. Change the dropdown menu selection from "Items for Sale" to "Catalog", and press "Go!" 2) On the next webpage you see, you will see the 8043 set listed. Click on the "(Inv)" hyperlink next to it to see the Parts Inventory. 3) On the 8043 Parts Inventory webpage, you can scroll down the visual list to see what the set contains. You can do the same thing for the other numbered Lego sets. Edited May 31, 2012 by DLuders Quote
