I've designed a digital MOC that uses elements in colors that I thought would be available until LDD Manager alerted me and Bricklink verified that they don't exist. Ordinarily I'd substitute for a different color or type of element, but I'm also wondering if there are means to order bricks in special colors even if they aren't listed in TLG's Pick-A-Brick. Any suggestions?

Maybe a browse through your hardware store for paint swatches?

If bricklink says they don't exist (assuming it's up to date), then they don't exist. Some parts are available by special runs to Lego Designers and Certified Professionals, but they aren't available to the general public. Sometimes they find their way on Bricklink, but short of that you'll have to substitute colours.

I've noticed that the non extended version seems to offer colors that do not officially exists. I found out by accident when I was using leaf element 6x5 it came in black, yellow, and 3 trans color. The smaller leaf element also came in colors that hasn't been released.

I'd guess LEGO started getting goofy with colors now that they no longer offer the option to buy from LDD.

I'm not sure that's entirely intentional, since every part in the non-extended mode does have an element ID (the combination of Design ID and colour) and they are only allocated when a part is produced. It's most likely that those parts have been produced in that colour but only for testing or specialist use by TLG staff. The DbM team probably picked parts based on the existence of Element IDs thinking they were all available somewhere, thus accidentally allowing some otherwise unavailable pieces to sneak through.

I heard somewhere that LEGO sometimes will allow limited production of a part in a certain color, but only if the person ordering it wants a LOT. As in thousands of dollars and many thousands of parts. (This is mostly because making a part in a new color, even if they already make it i other colors, costs a lot to do and also means that they cant produce parts in whatever color they would normally make, meaning they cant produce sets as fast) So unless you are willing to pay that much money, and get hundreds of times more parts than you actually need, just find an alternative way to replace the parts.

So I can order anything if i wanted something in, oh say, 100,000 range?

Time to see if they can make new Monorail tracks.:laugh: The switch do fail after a while due to worn out cog or dust build up.
