WesternOutlaw Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Don't you just hate it when a fairly new member will post a question or share a MOC for others to respond, and you spend some time answering or providing a response - and then the person falls off the face of the Eurobricks world never to respond agin on the particular thread he/she started. I think we need to create a list of these people and NEVER rerspond to them again >:-( . That will fix them!
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 4, 2006 Governor Posted November 4, 2006 Ah yes Brickster, I can relate to this frustration however there is always the possibility of PMing or Emailing that member if you feel the information you've provided is of benefit to them.
WesternOutlaw Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 Sure, but then I can't gripe about it in an open forum. It's a nice way to "vent".
Sir Dillon Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Just because they don't reply doesn't mean they don't read it. But I agree that this can get frustrating, it has happened to me a few times... Mostly because you use your time to try and help the person, and it seems they don't care. :-/
WesternOutlaw Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 Exactly. No acknowledgement that they even read your message.
Brick Miner Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 i guess, to protect yourself, you could wait to reply to newer users threads until the user has reached a respectful level of commitment to conversations at EB. more importantly, new users should also acknowledge that their topics may not receive adequate attention, because the simple fact that they are new. for example, i recognized this, and don't think i started any major mind-bending threads or published MOC until i had a good reputation within the community. and that didn't stop me from having fun, and getting good quality LEGO discussions out of my EB experience. replying to other user threads is still very rewarding X-D you definitely have some good ones Brickster ;-) - BrickMiner
Norro Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 To be fair* (*As in the irish expression) The whole idea of a discussion forum is that everyone can read (and benefit from) your responces, not merely the person who initiated the conversation. If you were emailing back and forth no reply would be a problem, but in a forum just consider their first post a conversation starter... Also I think not replying to new member's posts has a sort of elitist, unwelcoming, non-EB feel to it... God Bless, Nathan

Yes, others may benefit; but when one takes the time to either answer a question or share their thoughts re. a MOC, the initiator can at least have the courtesy to acknowledge or respond in some way. Often times, rather, I don't ever see another message from the initiator again. In regard to not responding to a post, it happens all the time, and has even happened to me before when originating a message. I usually assume that no one found the topic of interest rather than think people are being "snootie". Personally, I seek out messages by title, and often times don't even look at who sent the message until I go to respond (reading the message thread backwards).
dillthepill Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 (edited) There was this one guy who posted one post and people replied but he never posted again. That was pretty annoying. Edit: Name edited out. Edited November 20, 2006 by Hobbes

dillthepill Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 All right, maybe someone should just lock this topic.
Hobbes Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 All right, maybe someone should just lock this topic. No need to lock it, just keep it on topic and don't talk about other users by their name :-)
xwingyoda Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 G, I really don't get this thread at all !! I am for the utmost freedom, so if there are no responses to a thread or MOC then be it ! Live and let live I say. I also don't understand the attitude of Hobbes in here, why not finger point someone is really beyond me :-| (when no insults are written of course, that goes without saying - would be so against our friendly atmosphere). *yoda*
DoubleT Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Okay this is silly... you know who.. Topic Closed!!!
