Norro Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Here is the lugnet post... I like them for some reason... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 18, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 18, 2006 I like the hats. I used 2 tires to make hats for my Imperial Guards, but never tried to use only one. I wonder if there where really Cossacks with hats like that? Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 The hats remind me of the russian fur hats, the horses look nice, but the cossacks have too short legs... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 19, 2006 Governor Posted October 19, 2006 Is this the right forum for Cossaks? Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 In my opinion, yes, they were used in the napoleonic wars so I think this is the right forum... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 19, 2006 Governor Posted October 19, 2006 And what has the Napoleonic wars got to do with the Pirates of the Caribbean, Mr Tiber? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 19, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 19, 2006 And what has the Napoleonic wars got to do with the Pirates of the Caribbean, Mr Tiber? Well Mr Phes, during the napoleonic wars, the french had many colonies in the Caribbean. These were under constant thread of the British navy and privateers (since the french navy was inferior to the british). During the napoleonic wars , the russians were allies of the english during the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th coalition. Many privateers/pirates were protected and sponsored by the big powers like Britain and France. In many cases they are a consequence or extension of a European conflict. Quote
oo7 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Neat little diorama with creative horses. See more pics here. Although I too am wondering what the black antenna/flagpole with the 1x1 handle plate is. Quote

But just because the Russians were allies of the English doesn't mean they have anything to do with the Caribbean colonies - or does it? Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Mr Phes, isn't the Pirate forum also for colonials and napoleonic wars etc? You ask what they have to do with the pirates of the caribbean, but this forum isn't only aimed on them is it? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 19, 2006 Governor Posted October 19, 2006 Its also aimed for colonialisation of the Caribbean which includes the mother countries I.e England, France, Holland, Spain and Portugal. Russia doesn't seem to have had a colonial prescence in the Caribbean. Do you think the forum should also encompass allies of those in the Napoleonic wars? Quote

Well, they should be in the Pirates forum or the History & Adventure forum. I believe that the allies of the Napoleonic wars should be in the Pirates forum because: It is clear that the Imperial soldiers and guards belong to the Pirates forum. Suppose I would make a battle scene with the Imperial soldiers (French) and the Imperial guards (English). It would be logical to include some of their allies in this scene.... So these allies also belong to the Pirates forum. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 19, 2006 Governor Posted October 19, 2006 Well, they should be in the Pirates forum or the History & Adventure forum. This is what I'm getting at. Perhaps they should be in the History & Adventure forum instead. However! Suppose I would make a battle scene with the Imperial soldiers (French) and the Imperial guards (English). It would be logical to include some of their allies in this scene.... Norro Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 I placed it here, because if another group were added to the scene it would be very recognizable soldiers... In lego terms I always think of the napoleonic wars of falling under the juristiction of pirate, as the tech and pieces are most similar... Though that is a bit hypocritical from someone who doesn't really consider ninja to be castle X-D .... I suppose it is personal preference. God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 23, 2006 Governor Posted October 23, 2006 That aside... What do we think of these horses? Are they an interesting alternative to the official LEGO horse, or do they look silly? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 23, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 23, 2006 That aside... What do we think of these horses? Legeaux Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I never liked brick made horses. For me, the official Lego horse are just perfect. I sometimes ponder if a more 'aggressive' stance wouldn't be good. But on the whole, I think Lego's design in great for most circumstances. I also wish that Lego would produce horses in a few more colours (tan, light grey and dark grey would all be pretty good, I think)... and it's a pity there are so few in brown compared to black and white. El Bucanero Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 That aside... What do we think of these horses? Are they an interesting alternative to the official LEGO horse, or do they look silly? Mmmm, sometimes the lego horses look a bit bulky, but that's okay. Now, first of all, I'd like to know how the torso is attached to the horse. I think these horses look too.... empty??? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted October 24, 2006 Governor Posted October 24, 2006 I never liked brick made horses. For me, the official Lego horse are just perfect. Yes, I agree. I think the earlier LEGO animals were spot on but perhaps they got a bit silly with the Rock monsters and the like. It's explained in the Lugnet thread, very clever really... Lugnet thread? As if we're going to go over there to read about those horsies! You should have copy and pasted the information over Mr Norro. X-D Quote
