dunamis Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Was at my local Target today in Woodland Hills, Ca and saw a set that I had never seen before: 8682 Special Edition Nitro Intimidator. It is in the racer line (whatever that is) and I was intrigued. Normally, I'm not a fan of race cars, but this was a truck and looked really nice. It had over 700 pieces and was $49.95. It had a lot of Technic pieces (from what I could tell) and had some cool features. Kind of reminded me of the 2006 Creator car (the black one) but better. Anyway, if anyone is interested, here is a link: Lugnet 8682
xwingyoda Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Tks for the news Dunamis ;-) I never saw that model before actually, and I think its pretty nice so for the lazy souls, here is the pic . Enjoy : *yoda*
dunamis Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 You can't tell it from the photo, but the cover on the truck bed lifts up and a flat screen TV comes out of the back. It looks like a sticker, but the TV is showing a racing game and there are two video game controllers that come out as well. In addition, it appeared that there was a bluish neon glow (although the box didn't mention any light bricks) and what looked like a beer keg (I kid you not!) Definitely not your typical LEGO set and even though it was not something I would usually buy, it was off the wall enough that I might go pick it up today at lunch...
xwingyoda Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Definitely not your typical LEGO set and even though it was not something I would usually buy, it was off the wall enough that I might go pick it up today at lunch... Yeay I bet !! So did you buy that set Dunamis ? I would love to read a review of it if you did ;-) *yoda*
dunamis Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 Yeay I bet !! So did you buy that set Dunamis ? I would love to read a review of it if you did ;-) *yoda* Not yet, it's only 10AM out here. Depending on my schedule, I may get it at lunch in a couple of hours and if so, I'll post some photos of the box tonight (in about 12 hours) so you guys can see what I'm talking about. And, yes, I would love to review this set and most likely will. If I do it, look for the review to be done this weekend. (of course, you are sneaky enough to watch my brickshelf and will see the photos in advance *yoda* )
xwingyoda Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Excellent Dunamis ;-) I always forget that bloody time difference looool Anyhow, I look forward to pics ;-) Many tks in advance !! *yoda*
dunamis Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 OK, I couldn't wait and wound up driving to the LEGO store to pick this up (plus get double stamps!). I'll post photos later tonight, but the truck looks really good (at least on the box.) One downside is it looks like there will be a lot of stickers *n* . Oh, and that is not a beer keg in the back, it is the Nitrogen Oxide canisters! Silly me :-P Looks to have a decent amount of Technic and 'hand of God' steering. More info and photos to follow...
xwingyoda Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 OK, I couldn't wait and wound up driving to the LEGO store to pick this up (plus get double stamps!). Loooool, you can call that the "TLC effect" :-P I'll post photos later tonight, but the truck looks really good (at least on the box.) One downside is it looks like there will be a lot of stickers *n* . Many tks, that set looks really good and interesting !! I was scared of the number of stickers, judging from the box art |-/ Oh, and that is not a beer keg in the back, it is the Nitrogen Oxide canisters! Silly me :-P Loool, nothing a tiny bitr of imagination/modification can't cure X-D *yoda*
dunamis Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Ok, here goes (remember a full review will be coming soon, hopefully posted on Sunday.) The box: Notice the 15% more elements than the standard LEGO truck comment and the "special edition" tag. Closeup of the back: Notice the speakers, NOx tanks (or beer kegs if you prefer), video game, etc. Kinda cool. Other views: I haven't opened the box yet (too busy right now) but it does look like a lot of stickers. Enjoy!
xwingyoda Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I haven't opened the box yet (too busy right now) but it does look like a lot of stickers. Indeed :-D This pic is directly taken from Dunamis gallery ;-) This set looks cool, I'm awaiting the entire review ;-) *yoda*
JINZONINGEN73 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Hmmm... that glow is kind of deceptive. If there were light bricks, it'd say it on the front, yes? *sad* Exciting build with 15% more elements than like LEGO model Lol... sounds like the "Engrish" found on bootleg toy packaging. X D
dunamis Posted October 22, 2006 Author Posted October 22, 2006 LOL, Yoda, when I first saw that image, I thought "wow, someone else got a sticker sheet with a corner bent like mine!" Then, I recognized my floor... Sorry guys, no light bricks and I agree that it is deceptive. I'm running a bit behind on the review and it's my wife's birthday tomorrow so it will probably be Monday night before I get everything done.
natelite Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 saw this model in target too. there were 4 special edition sets: the building crane, wl vs bw, this and some bionicle crap. all models were priced at $50.
