efferman Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 A LA in this size from lego would be a dream for me Quote

jorgeopesi Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I am a purist but good parts, not for my mocs but good parts anyway. Quote
Burf2000 Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I am a purist but good parts, not for my mocs but good parts anyway. I was but because I build big, if I can have the odd one to improve strength then I am up for it. Also I am not the biggest fans of Lego's LA's they always jam on me :( Quote
Smrgol Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 They look really good, some of those beams would allow for some really interesting MOCs too Quote
KEvron Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 more heresy!!1! am i gonna have to convene a synod up in this joint?! KEvron Quote
gti180 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 The machining looks really good, love stainless and aluminum parts although for me if you build in Lego it all should be with Lego parts. If your going to use none Lego parts why stop at just the essential bits you may as well go all out and do away with Lego altogether. The way Lego is at the moment means you have to be very creative when building to add strength. The more specialized Lego parts become the easier things are to build and the less creative you need to be during the build. Great to look at though. Quote
KEvron Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 you have to be very creative when building to add strength yeah, that's my philosophy, too. i prefer the challenge of designing only with elements bearing the logo. now, i don't look down on the work others who do choose to design in mixed media. it's just a personal philosophy, not an attitude. heh. i browse bricklink's new parts page just about daily. i'm always on the look-out for a that new, just-so element that will solve all my designing problems. every now and then, i discover one! Kevron I completely see where you both are coming from. I don't plan to ever move away from Lego, just sometimes I need a bit extra strength or a LA that works well. Its not that much different to using 3rd party sensors. Quote
allanp Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Whilst I do call myself a strict lego purist I must admit, if that shop brings out longer pneumatics you already know i'm gonna get those! Quote
Burf2000 Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Here is a review (not weight test) of the lovely LA. Is 18cm long with 10cm travel. Quote
