BigDaddy Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 (Click image for gallery.) Story: Deep in the forest lies Wyldewood, the Lair of the Forest Knight. Today the Red Wizard arrives for a meeting. The trusted assistants of the Forest Knight stand guard and perform various duties... It's been awhile since I made a Castle MOC. :-) Quote
Brick Miner Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 i like this *y* id love it if it had a bit more "dark forest" feel ;-) the varying tree hights work well for the overall shape. - BrickMiner Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 30, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 30, 2006 This is a beautiful MOC. I love all the details that are in it. If this would be an official lego set, I would buy it for sure! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Very nice. I love the forestmen! And great imagery. Quote
oo7 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Looks good! I love the detail and looks like it's got some good playability features too. But where is that red wizard hat from? Quote
BigDaddy Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 Thanks for the comments! :-) But where is that red wizard hat from? I got it from BrickLink! ;-) Quote
gylman Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Truly lovely. A joy to look at. Only suggestion - the light gray window frames (2 2/3 curve top) don't seem to quite fit in colour-wise. Have you considered dark bley? Quote
oo7 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I got it from BrickLink! ;-) Ok, Thanks, just out of curiosity does anyone else know were this hat came from? Why when I quote people quoting me my quote dosen't show up? Quote
Asuka Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 You caught the bewitched impression of a hideout deeply in the forest in a very good way. Wonderfully! And a good baseplate too. Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Why when I quote people quoting me my quote dosen't show up?im having this problem too >:-(jiiiiiiipayyyyyyyyyyyy !!! ;-) Quote
Sir Dillon Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Beautiful creation, Nelson! While I don't know if this is one of your best mocs, it's one of my personal favorites of yours. :-) I really love forestmen, dark forest, and wolf pack creations, and you've pretty much used a bit of each. The way you made everything look like it was built right into the woods is really cool, and the overall look of the creation is really cool. Keep up the outstanding work. *y* -Dillon Quote
oo7 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 im having this problem too >:-(jiiiiiiipayyyyyyyyyyyy !!! ;-) I asume you PM-ed him? Quote
oo7 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 i have now ;-) This post seems spammy but I should show my acknowledgement to this and have nothing else to say. Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 This post seems spammy but I should show my acknowledgement to this and have nothing else to say.yes it does... i appologize to BD... i didn't intend for it to get that way :-$ -------------------------------------------------- in any case, there is still plenty to talk about with this MOC... and given my background/interest, i am super-curious where the digital background came from. is it custom made Big Daddy ??? photoshop ??? - BrickMiner Quote
BigDaddy Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 is it custom made Big Daddy ??? photoshop ??? Yes. I took a slice from a Dark Forest's packaging and made my own. *pirate* Of course, your background making skills are far better, BrickMiner! Quote
oo7 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Yes. I took a slice from a Dark Forest's packaging and made my own. *pirate* Of course, your background making skills are far better, BrickMiner! But you still did a good job Big Daddy, looks perfect! Brick Miner, any update about that PM you sent Jipay, I still can't quote quotes! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 Governor Posted October 15, 2006 i like this *y* id love it if it had a bit more "dark forest" feel ;-) When I first saw it "Dark Forest" was the first thing that sprung to mind. Brick Miner, how do you think he achieve a more "DArk Forest" feel to this MOC? Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Brick Miner, any update about that PM you sent Jipay, I still can't quote quotes!jipay turned off the initial quotes. now all that appears is the direct quotes, and that is what he wanted.-------------------------------------------------- When I first saw it "Dark Forest" was the first thing that sprung to mind. Brick Miner, how do you think he achieve a more "DArk Forest" feel to this MOC?well, being me (the official-look-copy-cat), i did wish this had more of an official LEGO Dark Forest feel. the use of some blue slanted roofs would have achieved this. and probably something as simple as adding some more standard Dark Forest figs ;-) oh, and BTW BD... the you did a great job on the custom background *y* - BrickMiner Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 Governor Posted October 15, 2006 I thinking blue slanted roofs would constrast too much in this MOC and the colours Big Daddy has chosen are just fine. If I recall correct, the blue slanted rooves were used sparingly in the Dark Forest sets. Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 yes, i think that BD has made good choices... but IF he was going for a complete Dark Forest look (and that was the question directed toward me), i might expect blue roofs... the Forestmen and Dark Forest themes didn't feature a lot of roofing... but when it did appear, it was blue. - BrickMiner Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 15, 2006 Governor Posted October 15, 2006 Do we know exactly what Big Daddy was trying to achieve? He doesn't seem to have returned to provide us with more information. Quote
BigDaddy Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 Do we know exactly what Big Daddy was trying to achieve? He doesn't seem to have returned to provide us with more information. Sorry so late. Since I don't own any 'Forestmen or Dark Forest' sets (due to my 'Dark Ages') my goal was to make a MOC that was more of an advanced set in the progression of the series. I did not try to follow the exact colours/style of the old series (e.g.: DF uses the brown trees), and sought a more 'organic' and realistic look to the fortress - where the old growth trees were carved/built upon and around, to achieve a solid stronghold. Thanks for the comments!! Quote
