Jim Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 (edited) I agree with Tim! 8043 is awesome!! 1. 8043 2. 8258 3. 8110 Welcome on Eurobricks by the way! Edited December 25, 2011 by Gekke Ted Quote
DLuders Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 @ mezoxr: You can download PDF Building Instructions for Jurgen Krooshoop's "Ultimate 8043 Motorized Excavator" at the bottom of this webpage on the JurgensTechnicCorner website. Discussion of that model is on this webpage. Quote
davidmull Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Get 8258 as its getting hard to get, then get 8043 Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Welcome! My vote goes like this, with 8110 being the best: 1. 8110 2. 8258 3. 8043 You may want to buy 8258 first, since it will become harder and harder to find. 8110 and 8043 will be available from LEGO for a while yet. All three of those sets are already motorized, but 8043 is the only one that is remote controlled. Quote
mezoxr Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 (edited) thanks ok which is better 8258 or 8110 is there item 8258 still in lego stores Edited December 25, 2011 by mezoxr Quote
DLuders Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 @ mezoxr: You can read the reviews of the 8258 Crane Truck (21 reviews) and the 8110 Unimog U400 (6 reviews) on Brickset to determine which one is "better" for you. In regards to availability, use the "Change Region" button at the top-right of this Shop.Lego.com webpage to match your country. In the USA, the 8258 Crane Truck has been "sold out" for months. Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 thanks ok which is better 8258 or 8110 is there item 8258 still in lego stores I'm not sure where you are from, but it's not available in the USA. I'm not sure about other parts of the world. You may have to look on ebay, amazon, bricklink, etc for the set. Quote
Jim Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 (edited) Getting the 8258 is probably the best options, since it is indeed getting rare. Furthermore, it's hard to say which model is the best, since it's very personal. Just read the reviews on Brickset, like DLuders mentioned, and make your pick. I think most of the members here will agree that all three models are great. Edited December 25, 2011 by Gekke Ted Quote
allanp Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 (edited) 8110 is the best. It's mechanical realism is pretty much unrivaled in Legos history. 8258 and 8043 both have complex gear driven (and unrealistic mechanicly) functions, but 8110 has everything, gear driven functions, pneumatic driven functions, suspention and so on meaning that whilst it may not have as many gears as the other two (almost as many though), it is actually the most complex and exciting becuase it has much more than just it's gear driven functionality, and it really is huge, much bigger than it looks in the pictures. Containing such a variety of different things and also the most amount of parts ever in a technic set also makes it a great source of parts. The only things it doesn't have is the flex system (not used for many many years) and RC, which for me is not even an issue because they currently don't make a servo motor which I think it really needs. 8258 is still a good set however and getting hard to find now.
