In Holland Saint Nicolas is much more common than Santa Claus... but did you guys know that Santa Claus is derived from Saint Nicolas and it actually was the Coca Cola company that made the Santa hype?!! You can still see that in this town: Coca Cola has a prominent place at those Santa events. Also Saint Nicolas always comes by steamboat, well... Santa arrived by steam train this time.

Well here is my Christmas train. Arriving just in time for Christmas. About the train: it might look a little familiar since it was inspired on some of those old 77xx 4.5 or 12V trains from 30 years ago. The train is a steamer, but nowadays running on fuel, not anymore on coal

Santa arriving:

This time of the year always brings back good memories, a nice ambience with warm and cozy feelings.

This must be a Dutch or Flemish town: it must be Dutch, "Soep met Worst" (translated soup and sausages). (actually this sticker was issued by LEGO back in the old days)

Santa brought even some helpers, you might recognize some of the characters he brought along...

The second car is packed with toys, oranges, even a Wall-E, packages, books, candy, stuffed animals, etc.

Closeup of the station square, with a bunch of carolers singing the old beloved hyms that were the main reason for Christmas: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men", I wish you al fellow AFOL's the best for the new year and I'm a conformist! :)

Hope you enjoy it.

I like this a lot, you've created a nice 'Town' feeling with all the detail. Especially like how you've done the bunting/lighting and the open wagon with the classic gate bricks gives it authenticity.

PS Now I found your site am going to order ones of those Coca Cola machines and restock my 77** stickers.

Nice job JopieK. I like all the fun antics around the train as well. Seeing your Santa arrive, I need to see if I even own a LEGO Santa - perhaps I have one with the LEGO Christmas Train.

It's also nice to hear a little about the origins and traditions of Santa. I never new Coke was responsible for the American Santa as we've come to know it. I always thought he was part of the vision of the German Kris Kringle.

In any case, nice display. Enjoy your new tag and Merry Christmas!
