SirScottLego Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Okay, I'm publishing quite a few of my custom minifigs. Special thanks to all the inspiration I have found on this board and the Minifig Customization Network and templates I modified from Classic-Castle.com Barbosa Gibbs Jack Sparrow with hat Jack Sparrow with Red hat Cursed Jack Sparrow The complete folder can be found at: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=207643 Quote
Brick Miner Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 hmmm... i must be sick of POTC because (although these are designed well) im not feelin' them. my favorite thing about these is that you use the existing official LEGO designs as reference... i see a lot of simular features... your belts and jackets for sure. really gives them an official LEGO feel *y* in contrast, your soliders torsos look too unlego-like for me ;-) - BrickMiner Quote
SirScottLego Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks BrickMiner... ya, I actually have original Lego solidiers coming out of my ears and so I've reverted to sticking with them until I can create something better I like. There's a fine line I haven't figured out with the soldiers as to detail... too much makes them busy... not enough their not soldiers- haven't figured it out quite yet. And BrickMiner... which soldiers were you talking about specifically- I've created a lot of crappy soldiers! :) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 29, 2006 Governor Posted September 29, 2006 The designs are very good but I'm not seeing Pirates of the Carribean characters in them. To me they just look like new mini-figures which is a good thing. But what I don't get is why is there interest in creating Pirates of the Caribbean mini-figures? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 29, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 29, 2006 That's a lot of new figs you created. They look great and will make a excelent addition to the torso library!!!! I think I will steal some of your ideas for one of my next torso's You will be the creator of about 50% of all pirate torsos *y* As soon as the torso's are on brickshelf I will put them all in the library. Can you make the resolution of the .jpg's high enough so we don't loose any quality (would be a pitty :-) ). Can't wait to print some and try them out. Quote
oo7 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 They're pretty good except for Barbossa's head, Jack Sparrow's head and the skeleton Jack Sparrow. Although the torsos are great! Quote
El Bucanero Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Nice ones! but I don't like jacks face, and Gibbs looks too young... Quote
SirScottLego Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 I do have higher resoulution photos but I wanted to error on the side of not stealing to much space... I can make them available on Monday. Tell me what you think of Gibbs hair... I modified a Obi head peice which makes a great 'wig' but it's not there yet... I think I'm finished with the POTC line until this next summer... I just wanted to take a stab at it... Thanks for the comments... and critic. Quote
Brick Miner Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 BrickMiner... which soldiers were you talking about specifically- I've created a lot of crappy soldiers! :)these ones... http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=5612. i'll tell you why i have a problem with them (and it has nothing to do with your design capabilities ;-) )... see, im just used to the official LEGO imperial soliders... i think they are a magnificent work of art. and i'd never want to replace them with customs... to me customs should exist where LEGO never delivered... or for variety of "unique" figs. something like soldiers uniforms don't need variety. its the same problem i have with these custom civil war figs... http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...?showtopic=6299. the calvary that LEGO created are near perfect... its like, "don't fix something that isn't broken" ;-) thats were im coming from anyway... - BrickMiner Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 30, 2006 Governor Posted September 30, 2006 Thanks for the comments... and critic. Did you want the critique as well? X-D By the way Sir ScottLego, do you keep all the mini-figures you've pictured here, or do you remove the customisation and reuse them? Quote
SirScottLego Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 I usually keep them in the customized form... I mean who needs soccer, harry potter or town figs?... I'm pure pirate theme, and all other lego figs are just canvas for pirate MOCs. Now the problem is what do I do when my collection becomes too big...:) Quote
Berry Syedow Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Ah, more customs, excellent! Like BM said, the qualitie Quote
SirScottLego Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Thanks Berry for your comments. Let me just say, I think what I've learned about Lego faces is that they are freaking impossible because you don't deal with noses... Ya, a lot of people are beginning to bag on POTC but I wonder if it's not the movies that aren't keeping some awareness of the genre. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 4, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 4, 2006 Thanks a lot SirLegoScott for sharing you beautiful designs in our library. I will put the links in the top-section soon. But I don't see the POTC torso's. Do you have have a link to them also? I mean this ones: Barbosa Gibbs Jack Sparrow with hat Jack Sparrow with Red hat Cursed Jack Sparrow Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 Ya, a lot of people are beginning to bag on POTC but I wonder if it's not the movies that aren't keeping some awareness of the genre. I wasn't bagging the Pirate of the Carribean movies, I just don't understand why anyone would want the LEGO equivalent of the characters. Then again that goes for all movies including Start Wars and Harry Potter, so its probably more me than the movies. Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 We still need a Jack sparrow with jacket... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 What's wrong with Jack in a jacket? Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I didn't said it was wrong, I said that we still need one... Without jacket... With jacket.... You obviously already know that, but is a difference... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 Ah yes, so you did. I think its about that time where I headed off to get some slumber. Quote
