Norro Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I saw this on Bricklink and realized the seller is offering a MISB 6103 for $100 but also has a MISB 6102 MISB for only $55, probably a great investment. But why is the older/rarer set so much cheaper? Is it because 6103 is so popular? I don't have 6103 (yet!) but do have a 6102 (with box) otherwise this would tempt my limited resources to the extreme! 6102: 6103: So why the difference? Which set do you prefer? Any random question you would like to answer? God Bless, Nathan BTW: The seller also has my old faviourite 6260 MISB as well... Seeing as I would open any set I bought it probably isn't worth my while... Quote
Brick Miner Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 i don't know much about castle MISB prices... but 100 USD for 6 figs seems like a lot !!! especially when the most expensive element included is probably not a minifig, but the pitchfork !!! i do think 6103 is a much better fig pack. more variety, better figs. in any case, i don't think i would ever buy from that guy... i've looked at his MISB western sets, and even gotten him to take some photos of the box quality. but too many peopel are unhappy with there purchases. take a look at his feedback. - BrickMiner Quote

I've noticed this store before. His prices sometimes... need getting used to: Example 1 Example 2 especially when the most expensive element included is probably not a minifig, but the pitchfork !!! Really... hm... my brother's got one... *makingaphonecall* Quote

Starwars4J Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Don't listen, Hobbes! That site is a lie, only trains exist :-P On a serious note, the pitchfork isn't worth THAT much, around $2US, I have a couple. The figs are worth more, though both of those prices are ridiculous Quote
Norro Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 It's not the ridiculous prices I'm questioning... just why 6102 costs half as much. You rarely even see an auction with it MIB as opposed to 6103 where that is quite common... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Starwars4J Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Well, two possibilities spring to mind: 1. More of 6103 were made 2. People just liked the figs in 6013 more Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I think it's the forestmen. They're more rare and more desired. Neither set is worth $50/$100. I would never pay that price for a few figs (no matter how much I liked them). Quote
Athos Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I imagine it has to do with the variety. The new one has four different style figures, while the older only has two. Plus peasants are a bit of a rareity, and the forestmen are quite popular. Steve Quote
Brick Miner Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 On a serious note, the pitchfork isn't worth THAT much, around $2US, I have a couple. The figs are worth moreya, but included in those sets for sale are NEW pitchforks... which go for 5-6 USD.BrickLink prices for pitchfork i actually check a couple prices for the forest men... looks like they go for around 5 USD. and the black falcons go for 5 new also... so maybe i was mistaken, and the pitchfork and figs are worth about the same 8-| - BrickMiner Quote
