interesting to see he used a belt drive for the tractor, it would not of been my first choice , but it works.

? why did he use the Rubberbands? he is using two differntials which are connected together. the rubber only creates resistance. or is the rubber a part of the suspension?

if hes using a xl motor, he could be using the bands to slow down the speed a little bit so that it doesnt go so fast

My guess is that the rubber bands reduce the slipping of the differentials. IF one wheel starts to spin freely the friction of the rubber band will help engage the opposite wheel so that it wont spin freely anymore. But that's just my guess.
