Seluryar Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Lego technic 8053 crane truck airport fire by Seluryar, on Flickr I think i can do better with the lift arm and nozzle, but for now, I am finished for the day after building the original body to the crane truck and stopping before the building of the crane itself Quote
Seluryar Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Looks good so far! That is very much what I would like to build someday. Here are updated photos: Lego technic 8053 crane truck airport fire by Seluryar, on Flickr Lego technic 8053 crane truck airport fire by Seluryar, on Flickr Lego technic 8053 crane truck airport fire by Seluryar, on Flickr I might get rid of the LA on top because that weighs down the boom. Alasdair Ryan Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 You could do with getting rid of those legs, the kind of fire truck that you are building does not have any, that's if you are basing it to the one David posted above. Also they have a telescopic section to the last piece of the boom, you might be able to use the string from the crane its self for this. I am looking forward to it finished,as we not see a lot of this type of vehicle getting built on here. Quote

I have thought about pinning the legs to the body and using the gears it uses for rotating the boom, but since my knowledge in that kind of thing is limited, it might take me a while to figure it out. Jim Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I like it a lot! The 8053 is on the top of my wish list right now, although I am not too fond of the boom, just like with the 8421. I would have rather seen an air port fire truck to begin with. So maybe I will have the same approach and don't even bother with the boom. Furthermore, the fire truck can be easily mounted with Power Functions. Looks good so far! This would have been a much cooler model!! (imho) Quote
