Governor Mister Phes Posted September 14, 2006 Governor Posted September 14, 2006 Just how much wear n tear can this paint handle? Would it be possible to paint over the studs and then reuse the pieces without having to worry about the painting coming off? Or would you have to re-coat the pieces everytime you wanted to use them? Would it be possible to paint over the studs and then reuse the pieces without having to worry about the painting coming off? Or would you have to re-coat the pieces everytime you wanted to use them? That's a good question... Can't tell right now because I only painted helmets and parrots :-) Next time I do some painting on lego, I will add some bricks to test and test the strength of my paint. Captain Roger Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I like it...thanks to MR tiber i have seen some MOCs with painted pieces and it works. The brilliant helmets are so cool!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Legeaux Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Actually, Kurt Baty didn't paint the hulls in the examples: The colour changes he made were done with electrical tape. Black (particularly) and white electrical tape give a reasonable colour (and gloss) match, and are also easily removed. Quote

You're right. Why didn't I notice this :-/ . I think it will look beter with paint, but this is less destructive. Quote

SirScottLego Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I thought I had an original idea :-$ ... but it looks like I'm just a pirate >:-) At my local Home Depot I found electrical tape in green, red, blue, black, white and yellow. The black, red, green and white are perfect matches for the lego color scheme but the blue and yellow are slightly off. I'm just completing my latest interpretation of Queen Ann's Revenge and will post soon, I started using the tape but in the end decided against it. Maybe on my next MOC. The tape looks great and is easy to use but you need to be careful because it will leave a sticky residue if it gets too hot... Just FYI. Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 You can see the tape used on the Revenge on this pic... Now what does FYI mean? Quote

Scouty Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Oh. It's electrical paint. Well that's good. Though i'm not excited on painting big pieces and expensive ones, i will paint smaller pieces IF necessary but only on moc parts and pieces of not alot of value. Also, one way to rid paint is, paint thinner. Quote
