timslegos Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Have you built one in real life? I dont know about those gears holding up. tim Quote
SNIPE Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) no I have not, i was just desighning something for my own enjoyment when I came accross this thread, as for the gears, I would have two technic threaded 8ld axles with the nuts , this measn you can finley adjust how tight the gears are against the gear strips. the gear strips have like a brace over the gear strip which , on two sides of that brace holds the gears. Alasdair Ryan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Snipe your design will not work as you orientated the beam '15' the wrong way so it will not fit into the channeled beam. Quote
SNIPE Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 then you can use the other type of runner sleeve of use the technic 1.2 dark grey pins (not to be confused with the technic light grey pin with stud brick) to get a little bit of clearence between the beam, and the gear rack so it fits inside of the runner sleeve. alternitivley you can use system 1x1x1 round bricks to raise the gear racks possibley. Alasdair Ryan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) Here is two pictures of my work. Download file. Sorry Snipe i could not understand what you were trying to say could you find me a picture of what you want me to use? Edited November 27, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
SNIPE Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) Ies I know that but there is no real way to implement that, how will that be able to be meshed? It should run fine when put in the original orienation with no gears on it or pins right? Edited November 27, 2011 by SNIPE Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) No it does not, thats the problem. It needs to go this way: Edited November 27, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
SNIPE Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 then use the other type of sleeve. it is also in LDD Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Ok so i tried again but i think you are going to have the same problem. Download file Quote
SNIPE Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) Ah i just renemrered that the beam is totally wrong, It is meant to be the same amount of holes but there is two studs at one end It is thinner than a standard beam too. You can use the hole belor the two studs or plug the part attached to the end of the LA onto the studs as long as the holes are not cross -axle holes. you will find it here as well as other odd bricks: http://www.eurobrick...1entry1052346 It is made to fit inside of there. just put it in so the opening in the sleeve has the gear racks in there like in the original LXF file. I think using this sleeve and runner is the best way because there is little weight and little change of failiure due to only having two parts., the toothed belt is using fine teeth which means it is much better to adjust too. Starbager1 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 The best and strongest design is this (from Erik Leppen's gallery, but Swissbager had one built long time ago, don't know who made it first): I made even smaller and equally strong actuators here: You can make the ram as long as you want in both cases shown. wow it is good but fabiones will be better Quote
Milan Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 wow it is good but fabiones will be better Care to explain what will be better from what? I have presented two different LA concepts. Quote
