Lord Thrawn Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Well, I can safely say that unless I win the lottery I will not be buying one of these. Being as my old (and modified) X-Wing from '04 is still intact... Still, it does feature some good figures. Cheers for the heads up anyway, Tilius.
MattZitron Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I think Slave 1 takes priority over this. But still tempted.
captaintau Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I will get this, but not with any urgency. Sailbarge first. My one wish for this would have been another astromech ideally red or in some way different from R2-D2. My rationale is that R2-D2 isn't the only blue astromech and in face the minifigure coudl be any blue astromech, but he's still iconic. With Luke pilotting, its R2-D2. With Wedge pilotting, its another unnamed blue astromech. Or, what was the name of Wedge's Blue astroech at the Battle of Hoth? Anyone know? I just think I second astromech specifially for Wedge should have been included.
mutley777 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 i know some people say they are not going to get this set straight away, but i have heard that this maybe a limited edition set! just have a look at the pic in this ebay auction (not mine), in the bottom pic it definately says limited edition! 8-| ebay x-wing
sam89 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 i know some people say they are not going to get this set straight away, but i have heard that this maybe a limited edition set! just have a look at the pic in this ebay auction (not mine), in the bottom pic it definately says limited edition! 8-|ebay x-wing I believe that's the American version. Here's what the European version looks like: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/HJR/Ebay...ng/pic_4872.jpg
mutley777 Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 but is this a limited set? if so this will have to go to my top priority. i don't want to miss it, or go through the agro i had getting ultimate space battle!
natelite Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 looks like it is hot in demand. i just visited the tru in times square ny. only one left on sale at $49.99. once that is sold i bet the price will start to go up. arc-170 is already selling at $49.99 (up from msrp of $39.99). crazy! i'm going to visit my local tru (since ny taxes are higher :-P) and buy one just in case. geoffrey's sale is coming up soon... maybe will buy more then. it looks like an extremely hot set once it is discontinued.
ReZourceman Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Im considering buying this right now.... ...I guess I will.
xwingyoda Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Im weak. Loool, aren't we all ? :-D :-P *yoda*
captaintau Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Yep, bought it.Im weak. But weak in a very good, commendable way. :-D
UltraPrime Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Saw it on shelves in TRU today, and it's on their website.
JoeMI6 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Hmm, I've always considered getting one of the X-Wing updates. This could be my oppurtunity, although it does seem a large amount of dosh to spend for what it is. I'll have to wait and see if I'm as weak as ReZourceman ;-)
Khorne Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 WTH is this? If I want to buy this, I need to pay
natelite Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 i just got this set from tru this morning. i also just finished building it. and goddamn.... unless you already have an x-wing from previous sets, this set is a not-to-be-missed. you will certainly regret not getting the iconic flyer. and this comment is coming from a highly finicky, hard-to-please AFOL (i give most sets below 6/10...recall the recent 7706 mdt). i give it my 10/10 seal of approval. since my review is going to be rather short (i need time to play with my new spaceship!), i'll just put it here. overall, this is my favorite ship right now. excellent building...a little tedious (having to repeat 4 times for the wing designs) but the end product is well worth it. it suffers like any recent sets from oversizing, ie. the ship is larger than minifig size. i think the 7140 is a much better minifig size. i also like click-joints better than the screw mechanism to open the wings. overall, the ship is well designed, as accurate as you can get to an x-wing, legorized... minifig selection is great (especially since i have none of them before...lol). wedge is a slight letdown seeing how only the helmet is new. certainly something a great modder will be able to recreate. it's mainly new print over the standard rebel pilot helmet. the set is selling extremely well. top 2 in S@H and they are also moving in TRU like hotcakes fresh from a bakery. :-D just today, out of the 5 sets on display, 3 were sold at the same time i was purchasing mine....only 2 left by the time i left the shop.
