Hinckley Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I have put up a pictorial review of set #7021 Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon at BrickZone.net. That has to be the longest name of a LEGO set. I insist on referring to it only only by it's full title. I liked the Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon and would recommend the Viking Double Catpult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon to anyone who likes Vikings sets, especially Viking sets that involve a Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon. Enjoy my review of the Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon and the story that follows "Bianca and Gavin vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon." --Mark BrickZone.net BrickZone.net Set Reviews Bianca and Gavin vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon Quote
Shakar Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Wow..you actually tempted me to get Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon. Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon has good minifigures, just as good as the 2005 ones. The Armored Ofnir Dragon is huge, has a great colour scheme and a really nice saddle. The Viking Double Catapult is good too. Now I'm undecided to get Viking Double Catapult vs. the Armored Ofnir Dragon or BWVWL. :-( Shakar Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 I don't think the dragon looks very good. Sure, it's big but it's not really... dragonlike. More like a winged Dinosaur. :-/ But the Catapult is very cool. Looking good and it also seems to be fun to play with. So plus there. I'm still not sure aobut this set. Perhaps one to miss for me. More like a winged Dinosaur. :-/ That is a fair assessment of the dragon. However, it is very easy, I think, to rebuild it into a dragon similar to the Nidhogg dragon. I agree with your assessment, however. When I took the armored dragon head out of the box, I was like "Why'd they create a new mold for this?" They really could've used the energy and materials to create a new spruce tree mold, seriously. Perhaps I will re-build Ofnir sans armor and post it here... THe operative word is perhaps. --Mark Quote
Shakar Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 As a side note: I'm not a huge fan of this piece as it seems rather Bioniclely. Well, of course it looks like that, that head piece was originally made to go on Fenrakk, a Bionicle set (see the big spider's face): Shakar Quote

I should hire you as my set review re-searcher. It doesn't pay. I wanted to check on Bricklink but no one's submitted an inventory yet. Thanks for the info, I wondered where that piece came from. Now I know it's a big spider's face... By the way Shakar, Sorry to confuse your next purchase. What is the BWVWL? Maybe I can help you decide. --Mark Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 He means Bridge Walker Vs. White Lightening, an Exo-Force set. Quote
Hinckley Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 He means Bridge Walker Vs. White Lightening, an Exo-Force set. Thank you. I thought he meant the Big Wheel Viking Wagon Linguini. I want the Bridge Walker too. I would get that one, I think over the Double Catapult. I can't wait to review it... Quote

gylman Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks for that hilarious (and useful) review. This one seemed to me to be the least useful, price for value, of all the viking sets released so far - not that many figs, a whole crapload of bionicle pieces, the dragon just looks kinda lame. Unlike previous sets, it's hard to buy this one just for the figs and other parts, because the dragon is a major part of the set. Still, with a fun review I always reconsider... Thanks again. Quote

I actually wanted to get the Heavy Artillery Wagon, but it was out of stock, so I got this because it was only $10 more and in stock. I was dissapointed but when I got the set and put it together I was surprised at how much I liked it. The dragon is kind of lame, but the parts are cool and can be used for a better dragon MOC. Shakar, LOL! :-D Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Is this only to gather the remnants of Gavin or is it equipped with some cool stuff like in Kozure Quote

JoeMI6 Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Woah hinckley39, may I first say how great you are at reviewing. Your photography and little comics are great. This set is an odd one for me, as I'm divided as to whether I should buy it or not. I feel the need to own at least one of the larger Viking sets, but sadly, your review has not convinced me that this is where my money should be invested. Ah well, thanks for your insight anyways.
