Is the 9397 officially to be the flagship model this year or is that just guessing?

What about the 9398 ?

The 9397 is the early sub flagship much like the 8070 Supercar was last year, but the Crawler Truck will be the main Flagship set.

I mostly like construction and truck models. But for not being a car fan I must say, the crawler actually is nice looking.

I wonder about the logger, to, or not to get :)

Looks like the 3rd axle can be raised. Cool.

Any chance the 3rd axle on the A-model could be raised, I mean, the chassis looks very alike?

I partly really like the style of the A-model but it has some (from my point of view) flaws.

1) It should be dual wheels in the back. Possible not both pair have to be. The last pair could be single and able to be raised.

2) The tanks looks misplaced, I think they should sit under the cabin and not as far back. The loggers I've seen all have had their tanks under the cabin.

I usually don't moc. I build my models for fun, test the functionality once or twice, add them to the collection and then look for next interesting set.

For this set I might actually moc-around a bit and try implement 1 and 2 above.

The tanks are in the proper place as most trucks have them there!

I'm like u I don't do much mocs except I did do a few changes to the unimog,I think with this log loader I'll make the crane pneumatic.

I don't wanna argue against you but I just never seen the tanks that far back.

A few example on this site: http://www.ruraltech.org/pubs/reports/2008/log_trucks/apps/index.asp

Edit: For non-logging trucks they are placed further back. I always though they moved them forward to reduce the potential of having them crushed by logs

Doesn't the front of the b model of 9397 look mildly similar to the front of 8041?

Anyways, you can see the mini linear actuator at the bottom of the snow blade housing.

Wow the b-model is actually pretty cool looking. I might have to get this set. When does it come out?

I'm going to wait until Shop.Lego.com offers this 9397 Logging Truck set in the USA. The $150 USD price that Toys-R-Us is charging in the USA is a bit steep, considering that the same set sells at Argos in the UK for ~100 Euros (roughly $132 USD). Toys-R-Us typically has a $10 USD markup on larger Technic sets. Besides, I can earn some VIP points by ordering directly from Lego.com in March.

I see that the Toys-R-Us website does not offer the 9397 Logging Truck in Canada (but what else is new about that?)....

Argos UK has the set at £100 or $157 at the current spot rate. I paid €121.99 or roughly $160.

I thought you disliked 9395 (@Anio)?

I do indeed. But I get all the "big" sets to do a review, precisely to explain why I think a set is good or not. :)
