Actually, the Lamborghini Gallardo was designed by Paul Boratko (Crowkillers); Blakbird made the Building Instructions.

I received it two days ago.

it has been quite fun to build (built time approx 3 hours and a half)

now I'm planning on removing the motorized functions (useless to me), maybe putting in a real gearbox, change the chassis, and perhaps make it black! (but are there black panels around, like 17 18 13 14?)

Hopefully Lego will release a short black panel soon to complement the large one from the 8081 set.

Got my 8070 in yesterday! :cry_happy::sweet:

Sorting parts and halfway through book 1.

I already like it. Wheels are cool, and so is the parts collection.

A few things that i noticed:

- The M-motor is really small! (compared to XL motor)

- The box and the set have the wheels placed a little weird (with the better looking side on the inside) - why? :look:

can't wait to be home from work again

It's indeed a really nice set! The wheels are probably placed the other way around to give it a different look. To show it can be done this way too. That's my guess.

Ted I'm thinking of getting this set for Xmas as iv never had a technic super car because I'm more into construction vehicels so I should be something different for me :) hope it's worth it too :)

Oh it's worth it :classic:

Maybe some classic super cars have better this or better that, but basically it's a cool looking set with plenty of parts for building your own (super) car. Where others are not too fond of the gearbox being used to switch between functions, I think it's fun! And a very nice B-model too!

Definitely go for it, you won't regret it

I don't know why this set doesn't get much love. The old timers will rattle off a list of past LEGO super cars and completely omit this set!!! The beauty of LEGO is if you don't like something - you can change it. I think 8070 is a gorgeous looking car ... and at some point, when I'm motivated enough, I'll yank out the silly control of the doors/hood/spoiler and put in a proper powertrain.

Amen to that. Could not agree more

+2

I totally agree! And it has a lot of nice parts for anyone wanting to design their own supercar.
