Hello,

I just bought 'n build the 8049, Tractor with Log Loader.

Given the extra instructions at the end of the book, I motorized it using a few PF parts. With that comes the need of the x191c01, pneumatic pump (http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/x191c01).

Once build, the motor correctly operates the pump but the whole pneumatics system rarely works. Hence I took it apart and tested the pump manually.

While holding my finger over the little "output" (no tubes attachted) the pump sometimes compresses and sometimes moves up and down like there is no pressure at all. Seems like air is escaping somewhere, although I can not feel or hear anything.

Is this a problem in operating the pump (as in: me doing something wrong) or is it something worth contacting LEGO customer service about?

Regards,

Stefan

Contact Customer Service, and repair your own pump (no from service).

Do you have other pumps to test this with?

Otherwise you could get another one. This is the cheapest Brickstore in The Netherlands and if you are lucky, you will receive it the next day (Lego customer service can take a while)

Or get yourset a new one (slightly longer, better working), used in the Unimog.

I found LEGO pneumatic parts easy to clean and open (though it will leave some scratches on the outside), usually there is either not enough grease or its all piled up in one place.

Did the pneumatic system work fine with the manual pump? If yes, you likely have a dodgy motor pump and need to contact consumer services.
