blakeatron Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Was on the lego website looking for duplo for our daughter and thought it would be rude not to have a little look at the technic, wow its ceratinly moved on! I think the last set I bought was the black/yellow dirtbike (still in the loft). I do however have the full set of technic star wars figures bought from a car boot last year, they are a bit dusty and smell a bit smokey but will be stripped and cleaned one day! Anyway I ordered the race truck and motorbike and they promptly arrived at work. Then I saw an advert for the unimog - that looks nice so that was ordered too. Then I found this site and decided I needed the rc excavator so today that was ordered too. So how am I going to hide all these form the boss, and when will I find time to build them! Gratutious boxes shot, still awaiting excavator :( Cant wait to get stuck in and do some of the mods outlined over various threads! Quote
DLuders Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 @ blakeatron: Welcome to Eurobricks! In regards to your (expensive) new Unimog toy, just explain to your wife that you have to "have some fun" too. Reason with her -- would she rather you spend your money on Lego Technic, or go out drinking and carousing "on the town"? Given that choice, I'm sure she would rather see you at home where she can keep an eye on you building the Unimog all day long! Quote

Big Cam Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I've heard this used many times on this site. Ask her if she'd rather see $200 a month charged to a toy store, or the strip club. I think she'll see your point. Quote
dr_spock Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Welcome to EB. Happy building and explaining. Quote
Phantom59 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 (edited) Tell Her you won a contest. It has worked before,I know of a case where some bloke put a very expensive model ship on laybuy and when he finished paying for it he got the owner of the shop to ring up his wife and tell her "he" had won a contest and for him to come and pick up his "prize" Edited August 10, 2011 by Phantom59 Quote

blakeatron Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 Thanks for the welcome! She is very understanding and I have just sold my motorbike so she should be a bit happier about the lego... She will probably get stuck in as she even though she would hate to admit it she enjoys thrashing the rc's around when we get them out. Just had the tracking number through of the excavator. But which one to build first?! Quote
Rook Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Just tell her there where 2 things you liked to collect when you were in your youth... Lego and Magazines by Hugh Heffner, since you found her all you need is Lego... ...and then duck. Quote

Blakbird Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Ask her if she'd rather see $200 a month charged to a toy store, or the strip club. Why not both? Just don't take your LEGO with you. They are really uncomfortable in your pocket. Quote
antsiranean Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Why not both? Just don't take your LEGO with you. They are really uncomfortable in your pocket. Well, an obvious reason not to do both is that it would cost twice as much. And to me it seems more fun to spend it all on Lego, instead of 50/50 on Lego/strip club. So, the question will be: why not double all your Lego spendings. You're not going to the strip club, right? Quote
