What is this, a history forum without a favorite Castle theme poll? This is insanity, but lucky for you oo7 came along and gave you one (I haven't forgotten anything, have I?)!

Obviously classic: 6080, 6085 have no parallels.

Forestmen are a distant second, but just don't think of them as "castle".

Well I voted for Black Knights because I was limited...

My favourite faction is actually Crusaders/Lion Knights...

I think it's the most noble faction TLC ever created along with the great 6081...

Forestmen,the proudly rebels are rigth behind them (just a cuople more sets and they'll be my favourites)

and then Black Knights...

So I voted for my third favourites but I have to ;-)

Classic Castle is beautiful part but I don't belong to that generation...

I didn't know about it till a couple years ago...

Interesting though, black knight is 6085, strictly speaking. I was thinking of it as classic castle. So it comes down to whether I like 6080 best, or 6085 best, and that's not obvious to me.

So, let's call it a tie on the basis of the best big castle. Lets look at the rest of the theme to break the tie.

I know how stupid this is going to sound, but I voted Black Knights due to the stunning minifigs. Of course the castles were among the best TLG ever produced, but who didn't love the black knights' euro armor and pointed visors? They seemed to me to be the most powerful rendition of Lego knights so far *y*

Totally agree that Black Knight figs were superior to classic castle. I placed more emphasis on the structures, but from that perspective, one could say that this would break the tie in the favour of BK.

I think the Black Knights are the coolest. I love shields with dragons and I love minifigs in full armor. The sets also rocked.

BK because the first Black casttle was my fisrt casttle and my first big set! And it looks so good with a very great design and a good playability

Mine is Royal Knights because they have the best sets and minifigs are good, like most of late 90s minifigs....Well...Ninja were great but here they were released in 1999 and out of stores in 2000

Mine are the Crusaders. There's just something about those guys that I really like, not to mention 6080, which is my favorite set. Are they considered 'Classic' in your poll, or are they just not in it?

though i admit to not being that much of a castle fan, i definitely have a fav... the Dark Forest.

great expansion theme that added much diversity on the castle concept.

not just another knight sub-theme, IMO.

plus, it was a much needed rebirth of the first forest men idea, and much improved.

speaking of which, where are the first forest men in the poll ???

BK...forever! Best CC faction Lego ever made IMO. 6085 is one of my favourite sets ever. They had an excellent heraldry, although some of the figs didn't impress me much. I myself did a redesign of the mounted knights, which are completely black with triple plumes and capes of the same colour (red, blue and yellow). I keep the Dragon Plumes for the highest ranks of the army. If not them, I would choose the Classic Legoland faction, the guys from the legendary 375, for their main castle and because their figs and emblems rocked.

Ninja is by far the best.

I really liked the Wollfpack but they needed a few more sets and maybe a leader or something. That series never really got fleshed out.

i agree about the wolfpack, i forgot to mention them in my first post. rouge wonderers is a great idea. this is a sub-theme i've really really tried to like... but there just isn't enough substance there.

hello...i'm not a knight's fan so i may not know much...but was wondering why the hatred towards kk1? i thought the king leo sets were alright? it's the kk2 that you hate, no? kk1 is the only line where you can get the broad brim castle helmet (apart from the recent chest set which comes in blue...yuck!). there's also the pointed visors you all loved. and the dragon knights helmet. so in all i thought it was a great theme which is why they came up with the new "special" release set 10176. am i way left field here?

KK1 was excellent considering the figs, but the buildings were just pure crap. The juniorisation of pieces in castle started with KK1. That explains the hatred a bit.

Well it was KK1 who brought me in my dark ages... :-(

As KhoRne said,juniorisation did start with this line,even if the figs were not bad (tough I think King Leo is the worst castle minfig ever)... I think at this point TLC took another team of designers :-|

But,yeah,comparing to KK2, the first one was a great line...

Although I have the most of Black Falcons, and some of the Crusader and Black Knight Castles are clearly the best, I voted for Dark Forest/Forestmen. I like the somewhat legendary aspect of the line (drawn from the Robin Hood legends). I also like the ingenuity of their sets, forts hidden in trees and rocks.
