Superkalle Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 The new 30121 Cars giveaway was handed out in a store in Sweden today. I got a few and managed to put one together. Nice model for a give-away, with two printed parts, and some other nice stuff. Quote
sok117 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Very interesting! It's weird that they can put a full car into a polybag, yet you can also pay a higher price for a car in a box! Quote
Rumble Strike Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 That is a very cool polybag set! To get a fully-fledged car in a bag is good when, as sok117 said, the main cars individually are not cheap. Quote
prateek Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Cool. It's interesting what sok117 said. That said, I really hope these come to Canada. Quote
Aanchir Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this one of the first 3#### polybags to have a name printed on it? The ones I recall seeing just have the number without any name, much like the 2#### Brickmaster polybags. Anyway, that set does have some nice parts for just a giveaway. Out of curiosity, did you put the "visor" on backwards, or do the instructions tell you to put it on differently from the box art? Quote

DarkFader Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 It's a cool little polybag set and I wouldn't say no to lay my hands on one myself. Could you please tell which store was handing them out? (as a fellow swede, I'm a bit curious). Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Wow! That is a really nice polybag promo. I'm hopeful it'll make it to the US, though I have to assume it won't be just given away freely (though if it's a TRU exclusive, I can see it being one of those sets they give away for a week with every purchase of $35 or $40 or so worth of other LEGO sets). It makes perfect sense to give a relatively unknown character as a freebie, considering almost all of the main Cars characters (especially the original cast) are the primary drawing factors in the sets that they appear in. Also keep in mind that most of the cars characters are loaded down with printed parts, some of which are printed on multiple irregular surfaces.. Grem only has two printed parts, each of which includes a single flat decoration. That could be as much of a cost factor or more than how well-known the characters are. Out of curiosity, how many parts did this set come with? None of the major database sites (Brickset, Bricklink, or Peeron) have a piece count yet. Quote

It was completely unheard of too back then. I'll keep my eyes out for more world firsts from now on! 42 parts from what I could count. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 42 parts from what I could count. Wow. "Only" two simple printed parts or not, that still makes it pretty comparable to 8200 Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen and 8201 Classic Mater, and those sets cost $6.99 each (and that's here in the ever-spoiled US! ). This is pretty darn swanky for a polybag promo. Quote
Darkdragon Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 42 parts from what I could count. Actually there are 54 parts in the polybag. Quote
WhiteFang Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Lovely polybag set which can be used to built a small troops of "lemons" that was stationed at the oil rig or even used in the chase against Flint or Mater. Quote
Justin Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I would like to buy this set once it is available at Toys "R" Us. Quote
