Leanne Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Here are some pics of my first attempt at my own modular building. I took a lot of inspiration from the Medieval Market Village buildings, as well as a few ideas from the Pet Shop house and creator Hillside House. It was designed using LDD and I ordered the parts on pick a brick. The interior still needs a bit of work, but that is easy enough to play with over time. Any comments will be welcome! The Front The Back Street View Front (with the pet shop guy having a sneaky lunchtime beer...) Street View Back The Bar The Cellar - Inspiration taken from the house in the pet shop set. The floor hinges up to reveal steps down to the cellar where spare barrels are stored. The First Floor - basic interior which I want to improve in future The Roof Bedroom - Complete with stolen furniture from the pet shop apartment. Just to get an idea of how it could look. The Roof when closed. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Brilliant modular Pub Leanne. The interior is great. and has certainly got a great 'pub' feel to it. Nice work Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 A beautiful pub you have there 'Leanne', true upstairs could do with a little more work but you have done an AWESOME job making this fit in with the pet shop set. I like the simple beer taps plus the barrels/kegs downstairs like a real old pub. But you missed an important room or in fact two of....toilets.....hey, some of us can't hold our beer....that's why I drink scotch and red wine ! Keep up the great work and Brick On 'Leanne' ! Quote
Syn Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I love this! did you use the midevil market village for this? and the lay out reminds me a lot of Oblivion its just fantastic! Quote
Gregorovich Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Vey nice pub, Leanne! I like the interior a lot, and the outside is definetely in the style of a lot of pubs. Well done, and thanks for sharing! Quote
gcanik Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Very nice design and I like how it fits into the official Lego modular town buildings. How about putting in some flat screen televisions in the pub (using some various sizes of black tiles)? I think it would help with the flatness of one of your first floor walls. But otherwise built very nice! Quote
Leanne Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 But you missed an important room or in fact two of....toilets.....hey, some of us can't hold our beer....that's why I drink scotch and red wine ! Yeah I did think about that. I might put one under the stairs on the ground floor, or perhaps outside in a little shed outside. Alternatively I'm thinking about having public toilets nearby in my eventual town layout, removing the need to have them in the smaller public buildings. How about putting in some flat screen televisions in the pub (using some various sizes of black tiles)? I think it would help with the flatness of one of your first floor walls. Ooh I like that idea. L@go Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Wow, I have to say that this is a very nice modular - and for a first attempt it's stunning! It really fits between the two buildings from the Pet Shop set. The interior shows very much promise, and I like that floor hatch. I'm very much looking forward to what you'll be able to come up with in the future! (And I like the idea of the Pet Shop boy (...) going to grab a beer next door!) Quote
greg3 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Great looking pub and it fits in perfectly with the other modular buildings.... I'd happily have a pint in there!! Nice work! Quote
Roger Rabbit Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I'm no expert, but I like it. Congrats. Love your idea of putting the toilets in an outhouse too!! :D Quote
sonicstarlight Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 This is an excellent first showing. The exterior is well detailed without looking too busy, and the interiors are better than you are giving them credit for Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Great pub 'Leanne'. This would look great with the medieval market. Great details inside and out, definitely a great first MOC Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 A lovely creation indeed Leanne, I really like the classic medieval look of this modular building put in a modern setting. It reminds me of themed-pubs/bars we see nowadays. Great job for your first modular build! Quote
The Dutch Guy Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I realy love your work. The interiour looks great. I allmost envy your creativitie about that. I myself have a lot of trouble with that part. Keep on building them and inspiring everyone. Quote
buddy Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 (edited) Excellent MOC! It looks and feels like a pub. The interior is nicely made, and looks like that of a real pub. Extremely well done. ~buddy~ Edit: My 1200th post. Edited May 23, 2011 by buddy Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 That is a very nice pub you build there Leanne. My favorite part are the roof windows. I only think that the front windows on the first floor look too small. Oh, and I am missing a chimney on the roof. The chairs could also do with some legs. It looks like they are sitting on the floor. Quote
rriggs Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Looks very nice and is a good representation of this type of building. My only observation would be that there is a lack of flowers/window boxes/hanging baskets/etc on the outside. Any British pub in that era and style of building would have many of these on the exterior. Cheers Rog Quote
gold682 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Superb effort. Really like the look of this both inside & out. May I ask how much this cost you in the end, as i'm sorely tempted to have a go myself! (just got into the modulars and can't think of anything more satisfying then building your own design!) Quote
Leanne Posted May 26, 2011 Author Posted May 26, 2011 Oh, and I am missing a chimney on the roof. I decided not to put a fireplace in which is why i didn't include a chimney. I don't like having one without the other! Looks very nice and is a good representation of this type of building. My only observation would be that there is a lack of flowers/window boxes/hanging baskets/etc on the outside. Any British pub in that era and style of building would have many of these on the exterior. Yeah that is a good point. It might be something I can play with in future. Superb effort. Really like the look of this both inside & out. May I ask how much this cost you in the end, as i'm sorely tempted to have a go myself! (just got into the modulars and can't think of anything more satisfying then building your own design!) I bought all the bricks new from the Lego website at a total of £135 including delivery. The Design by Me price was over £180. It was great seeing the design come to life - I highly recommend doing it! Quote
Juppy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 omg this is really awesome. do you mind uploading the LDD file so I can order it brick by brick too? Quote
Andy D Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) Very nice build Leanne. I am considering my first modular type MOC. I have been experimenting with LDD, but it seems very time consuming. I may do a combination of LDD and prototype. How long did it take yo to design the building in LDD? I really like the entire build, but I notice the windows on the roof, it looks like they may be hinged, do you have a photo with the windows open? I also am interested in seeing your LDD file to see how you handled the floors in LDD. Andy D Edited May 26, 2011 by Andy D Quote
blargh Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Great design, and it really does fit in well with the other Modular buildings. I think a small bathroom in the back corner of the second floor could add some interest to that space, rather than just having tables up there. Quote
