jonfett Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 JK Rowling has finished writing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and so it is due to hit the shelves on July 16th. Read more about it here. I can't wait for this book, it should be great if it is half as good as the last one. Anybody else expecting to buy it?? Jon.
iangreig Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 My wife will buy the book (she'll probably pre-order it from Amazon); I'll probably wait until the Stephen Fry-voiced audio book comes out on CD ... That's what we've done for the last 3 books, and I see no good reason to change for this one ! Ian.
ApophisV Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 First of all, welcome here, Ian! Back on topic: I haven't read any of the books, I'm currently fighting my way through Robert Asprin's demon books, and there are still MANY MANY Terry Pratchett books that I want to read... (Oh, and I'm waiting for softcover versions of the newest Dark Tower books of Stephen King) So you see: no chance to read Harry Potter the next years..... ;) (One day I want to read them, but currently really no time... :( )
iangreig Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 First of all, welcome here, Ian! Thanks. I need to get a daily fora-fix (after being away for a couple of weeks) & with fbtbforum's (temporary ?) death, this seems the next "best" thing ... as a European, I guess I really should have been hanging out here more anyway .... ;) Ian
jonfett Posted December 21, 2004 Author Posted December 21, 2004 I'll probably wait until the Stephen Fry-voiced audio book comes out on CD ... I have got the first 2 on CD and I think they're really good. I would buy more of them but they are so damn expensive.. and I think the Goblet of Fire was about 18 cd's!! :oo Oh, and hi Ian! Hope you enjoy it here at eurobricks! :) Jon.
iangreig Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 I would buy more of them but they are so damn expensive.. and I think the Goblet of Fire was about 18 cd's!! :oo http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1...9695303-7823061 The above link is to the new HP CD box set - the first 5 books spread across 67 (yes, 67 !!!!) CDs. Not bad value at
iangreig Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 It looks like the disks are colour coded by book, & then numbered like the original CDs. It also looks like the case has two spindles in it, the the disks will just be stacked without any other protection ... Although it looks like good value, I'd be even wore impressed if they bought them out as MP3 CDs (or DVDs), like the BBC has done with the original Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series .... http://www.bbcshop.com/invt/0563494212 Ian.
jonfett Posted December 21, 2004 Author Posted December 21, 2004 It also looks like the case has two spindles in it, the the disks will just be stacked without any other protection ... That is what I thought when I looked at the picture, they will all get scratched and the box doesn't seem to have any padding in it so they will bang against each other. Jon.
