For mocing, how concerned are you with how things are 'powered' (such as wiring/plumbing)?

Is there a site I can learn about the interiors of pirate ships? Namely bathrooms and kitchens. I kinda want to keep it as authentic as possible inside since I don't have the right pieces at the moment to give a nice SNOT look.

Well bathrooms weren't present in these ships. Only a few toilets.

We have an index with a lot of detailed pictures of historic/replica ships here.

The kitchen would have looked a bit like this, and often with a brick(stone)built wall around it, and a chimney on the deck above it.

And actually, pirates usually had very small boats, and I doubt if those had a kitchen at all.

I dont understand your first question. Do you mean if we are also making the sails and rigging close to real ships?

In that case the answer is some of us do, and some don't, but of course it will make a ship look more realistic.

Good luck.

The Admiral is absolutely right about the pirate ships. Most of them had a complement of salted meat, hardtack and water. Some of them also had some kind of mobile galley. That could be an iron firepit that would be used on deck or even on a plank in order to not to endanger the rigging when the ship was under sails. Toilets would also be something reserved for the officers (on taller ships-of-the-line or first rate frigates) or just for the captain if there was one at all. If there would be a galley, there could be a supply of heated sea-water for washing. And if you want to do something prior to the middle 18.th century you could leave out the toilet completely, especially if it's supposed to be a pirate vessel.

Thanks both for your comments, it helps; especially the first link you posted.

So the head is the bathroom and the galley is the kitchen? Gonna take a while to get used to that.

Just wondering, I'm making a moc, an Airship, would that be okay to post here or would it be in the Sci-Fi forum? Either way, I still appreciate the help from you two, as I'll be basing it off pirate ships.

I kinda meant on how they get/filter water, have stoves/gaslines working, etc.

I believe your idea of a Pirate ship is a bit too modern :pir-laugh:

The galley is indeed the kitchen, but there's no bathroom on these ships.

These ships also don't filter water as far as I know. There are only some holes in the sides of the top decks so the water can run away.

And the stove (galley) didn't work on gas. They usually put coals in it.

I've also seen they sometimes hanged a sail a bit in the water to make a kind of swimming pool for the sailors.

And sometimes they put a large bucket on the deck for officers to wash themselves.

I believe sailors (if they washed at all) just used some buckets and threw the water over their heads.
