AdmMatthew Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Hey Everyone, I dug all my pirate stuff back out after seeing the movie, and since then I've built two ships, the HMS Atlantis and the Le Freedom First the Atlantis And the Le Freedom More Pictures can be found here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=193955 Sorry for the blurry pics, I was working in bad lighting conditions. Comments or suggestions welcome! Quote
oo7 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I can't see the brickshelf gallery yet, but judging by the pics you did a good job, the only thing that is not working for me is the technic masts on the Le freedom. But the fort in the backround is awesome, better than the ships 8- Quote
Captain Roger Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I don't like it because cannons are non shouting cannons Quote
ghoulrealm Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Yes, looking good *y* I also agree that the technic mast are a little unbecoming but it is somewhat of an innovative use of parts if your'e lacking 'true' mast pieces. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 13, 2006 Governor Posted July 13, 2006 I don't like it because cannons are non shouting cannons You don't like "non shouting" cannons? Would you rather the cannons yell and make lots of noise? :-D But seriously, what difference does it make if the cannons fire or not? It doesn't really change the design of the MOC does it? Now onto the MOCs... Mr Matthew, I've noticed you've got custom torsos, did you design these by yourself? Quote
AdmMatthew Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 Yeah, I did make them, here they are: British Red Coat: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/mattcorp...stickers/uk.jpg British Naval Officer: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/mattcorp...tickers/usa.jpg Some army builders: French: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/mattcorp...kers/french.jpg *note: the 4 'pirate' stickers aren't mine, they are Anthony Sava's and Red Bean's British: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/mattcorp...ngland_army.jpg Print out at 500 d.p.i. on Sticker paper, cut'em out and they should look quite good. I have the original .PNG file for the British Naval Officer if anyone would like it to modify. Also, the Technic Beams on the Le Freedom is simply because I don't have anymore standard masts, I hate them too.. and the Pirate flag on the back should be the small French ensign, it's just been capture by Pirates at the moment. After I got done building the fort I noticed on the history channel that "Spanish Port" looked alot like it, so it is officially "Spanish Fort" If you'd like more pictures of it, i'll take some more later! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 14, 2006 Governor Posted July 14, 2006 Yes, by all means take more pictures of your Spanish Port and post them in a second thread and nother for the original .PNG for the British Naval Officer. We never have a problem with getting a decent response to our threads in the Pirate LEGO Forum! I'm wondering about the British Naval Officer uniform you've got linked. The file name is usa.jpg and I'm wondering what the signifigance of the name is? Is it also intended to be a historic US military uniform as well? Quote
Dreamweb Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Those are nice medium-sized ships. The Technic mast doesn't look good but I know from experience how painful parts shortage can be. I also don't particularly like the custom middle section of Le Freedom's hull - I think it should be made of inverted slopes only, or, if you don't have them, standard bricks only (like in this ship). But I really like them both. Quote
gui45 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Why is the French ship named "Freedom" and not "Libert Quote
Khorne Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I think the Freedom is still in French hands, but perhaps Adm_Matthew couldn't translate Freedom to french (BTW, it's La Libert Quote
AdmMatthew Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 On the name of the Le Freedom, yup, that was just me not knowing French. La Libert Quote
gui45 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I have found this site which shows some French uniforms Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 14, 2006 Governor Posted July 14, 2006 The French stickers are just the English stickers inverted to blue because I had read that the blue Imperial Guards were French.. I might do a little research and come up with better stickers... And usa.jpg was something I was working on for Independence Day, then I never got a chance to finish it, so I just re-used the design for a British Naval Officer. So it was you who designed the stickers? I have found this site which shows some French uniforms Do I recall reading somewhere that you were French Mr Gui45 or was that someone else? Quote
AdmMatthew Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 Yeah, I designed the "USA.jpg" first, then I used a torso template over it to make the rest. That link to the French Uniforms will be very helpful, because since I have to rename the ship, it won't be that much trouble to redo the uniforms. also, I finished re-designing the Atlantis, and I may take some pictures this weekend if I can find the time. Though, the ship's been changed so much I might as well get it a new name too. Quote
gui45 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Do I recall reading somewhere that you were French Mr Gui45 or was that someone else? You're right, I'm French. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 15, 2006 Governor Posted July 15, 2006 Mr Gui45, since you're French, what is your opinion on these custom French mini-figure toros designs? Do you think these designs are better suited for the French than blue coat Imperial Guard mini-figures? Quote
gui45 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 oh frankly I don't know much about naval uniforms, all I can say is that such uniforms are only for officers and marines, but I guess these stickers are closer to the uniforms of this era than the Lego ones. Quote
