xwingyoda Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Guys and gals, Since I'm really excited about this, I created a poll to see what you think on this WC's Champion !! So cast your vote and share your impressions on the upcomming finals ;-) ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!! Guess what I will vote :-P EDIT: I wish luck for Germany to win the mini finals against Portugal !! Go the Manshaft ;-) *yoda* Quote
mutley777 Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 i voted france as they are a great team of world class players! well most of them do play in england after all *sweet* Quote
Aredhel Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I voted for France because they have to show those Italians good football! As for Germany - Portugal... Germany!! GO FOR GOALS!!! Quote
Lost Viking Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 GO FRANCE! GO ZIDANE!!!! Anyways the reason I am rooting for France is because of what they have gone through- Spain, Brazil, Korea, Switzerland, Portugal opposed to (no offense)-Ghana, USA, Australia, Ukraine Quote
SuvieD Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 If it is a good game then I don't care who wins! Go football! Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Meh. Being England and Germany supporters, I don't really care who wins. But I think I'll be rooting for Italy, because I don't really like the France team. Sorry to all the French fans here. 8-| Quote

Sir Dillon Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 Why? Even if they lose, I won't feel sorry about rooting for Italy. X-D Quote
Lost Viking Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Dillon and TT and all of you French dislikers, I expect full apologies on Sunday night >:-) *yoda* Hehe, preach on! Quote
Vader Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I just hope that its a better game than the last 2 times these sides have met, overall ive been very disapointed by the football played at this world cup. Most sides seem to of approached games in a very negative manner and attacking football has hardley been seen which is a real shame for us all. Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 I wouldn't be as dark as you are my Lord but this WC did show us lots of stuff that needs to be banned or changed IMO. Here is a little list: * NO MORE RACISM EVER * Videos (to prevent stupid ref decisions & stupid a fortiori actions on players like Figo, Ronaldo, Vannistelroii (or however his name is spelled)...) * Do get rid of passive off-play * change the suspension procedure (like if a player with a yellow card does nothing illegal on the next game, the FIFA gets rid of that card) Also, in order to have an exciting football here are two rules that would help: * change the offside rule to have a lot more offensive football * get rid of the extra time !! Players are really tired !! *yoda* Quote

WC has been fairly low quality... don't know who'll win... France depends far too much on Zizou. if he has a bad day or fully blocked by the Italians, then i don't see how they can win. Italy... hm... sure, why not? Quote
Hobbes Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 * get rid of the extra time !! Players are really tired !! Oh please... :-| I agree with you mostly, but I'm tired of hearing "players are tired", and "they had extra time..." (yeah, 5 days ago). They're professionals, they get paid (a LOT) to run around! Baseballplayers play 162(!) games a season, without three rounds of playoffs, they play every day, the games last between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 hours average, and sometimes they travel from the east coast to the west coast and play the next day - and no one complains. Hockeyplayers in the NHL have 82 games a season, without best-of-seven playoffs. And some then play in the world championships where they don't have 3-5 days off between games. This World Cup has shown us (at least me) at lot of crybabies and wimps. I'd go hide in shame had I put off a show like some very famous, very high paid players have. Poooooor football players, soooooo tired because they played 90 minutes of push-a-ball a week ago... *woohoohoo* One word: L A M E. /rant Quote

Quote
Hobbes Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 and how much doping is involved, you think? ;-) To be honest? A lot. Just look at Bonds and Sosa. But frankly, I don't care. Everybody takes it, so it equals itself out... Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 Here is a pissed off Hobbes :-P I think your analysis just omits (or intentionally forgets) all the games in the national championships + all the games in the European championships !! and that makes quite a few ;-) Also, don't forget that they are not that well payed compared to their championships ;-) I used to play in the US during Summer camps in the Football & Softball (okie its not baseball but pretty close :-P ) teams and I always thought that football was way more tireing (and I was only playing right defense !) And the rant continues :-P *yoda* Quote
yoda601 Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 * Videos (to prevent stupid ref decisions & stupid a fortiori actions on players like Figo, Ronaldo, Vannistelroii (or however his name is spelled)...) Oh, and what about Henry's diving? France deserve to loose, IMHO. Their fans have been b***ards towards other teams, and they've only been able to cheat to win. Plus, most players aren't even French. Quote
Hobbes Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Here is a pissed off Hobbes :-P Yeah well, talking bout football tends to do that to me... ;-) I think your analysis just omits (or intentionally forgets) all the games in the national championships + all the games in the European championships !! and that makes quite a few ;-) But not that many... Also, don't forget that they are not that well payed compared to their championships ;-) Still too much for what they show... I used to play in the US during Summer camps in the Football & Softball (okie its not baseball but pretty close :-P ) teams and I always thought that football was way more tireing (and I was only playing right defense !) I played right defense, too, as a kid. And I also played baseball, but just on an amateur level. Because pitchers aren't that good at that level (if there are any player worth calling a pitcher) games tend to drag. 4+ hours isn't rare, and that's pretty exhausting - if you take it seriously, cos concentrating all the time is as exhausting as running. I don't say football isn't exhausting, but compared to other sports football players have a very "relaxing" job, and you won't find that many actors anywhere else... And the rant continues :-P I'm done... for now... ;-) Quote

That I cannot let it pass !! True Henry did dive when "pushed" bu Puyol but BEFORE calling us b***ards let me just remind you 2 things on Spain: * the Spanish were the first to boooo and whistle during a national anthem * a certain Spanish guy on the field did yell "niga" and that is just unbearable and unfogivable !! Also the 2 "worst" teams on fouls and crap were NOT France and far from it !! They were: * Portugal with that SOB Ronaldo (safe trip home jackass !!) GO GERMANY !!! * Netherlands And JUST to please you, we will win :-P *yoda* Quote
yoda601 Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I france wins it's a victory for Africa, as most of the players are from there. And Puyol never pushed Henry. It was the other way round. Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 I france wins it's a victory for Africa, as most of the players are from there. Excuse me ?? Let me just tell you that from all the Group France, ONLY 3 were born in AFRICA, thats all !! * Boumsong was born in Cameroun * Makelele was born in RD Congo (ex Zaire) * Vierra was born in Senegal Its NOT because they are black that they are from Africa you know ;-) Islands like Guyanne... are French Territory ;-) Also all those players chose to play for France, end of story ;-) *yoda* Quote

Kikuichimonji Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Italy. France hasn't impressed me at all. Even against Brazil they did not prove why they should be in the finals. Italy has had quite some easy matches, but got through. And Yoda, what's up with the rooting for France all of a sudden? I remember you saying you'd hope they'd go home as soon as possible :-P Quote
xwingyoda Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 Sne, Zizou was born in Marseille, France ;-) French Empire you say ? I didn't know it expended to Argentina :-D :-P (Trezeguet) Kiku, I was not for France the way it played during the qualificatio games & the first phase: bad play and the "oldies" were only the shadow of their former self ;-) However, since I'm a bit patriotic hehe, when we succeded and reached the 1/8 I had to root for France without great conviction though. The game against Spain served as a real "declic" to the team, the whole country and myself !! From that point, France was SO IMPRESSIVE !! Seriously it played in such a way their adversaries (Spain, Brazil and Portugal) could not play their regular game 8- Quote
