snefroe Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Take a look at this: i like this thing for two reasons: the shape is quite unusual and not so easy if you want a good result... the greebs are very good. Usually everybody just adds greebs where he can leave them, and very often, that works, cos nobody knows what this or that particular pieces does exactly, so it's not really important where what is... But this guy more or less integrated his greebs into the structure of his ship look at the side of the ship! that's pretty good! i'm not really a fan of the interior, though, for one, i'm getting tired of SNOT techniques. it's ok for the outside, but i don't like it inside a ship second, i can't find head or tail inside the ship. where exactly is the command post located, for instance? i also don't think the gallery shows the entire inside. Maybe the rest of the ship is filled with bricks... Quote
Khorne Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I saw this earlier this morning on CS. I also think hat this is a very beautiful ship. The hull is magnificently created but I think the inside looks a bit empty..., it has plenty of details, but it lacks crew. I think the ship is too big for only 5 or so figs. Also, I hate it's bedrooms, the yellow doesn't fit in. But all in all, it looks awesome! Quote

Also, I hate it's bedrooms, the yellow doesn't fit in. But all in all, it looks awesome! First of all: Very exciting shape! Beautifully spacey and cosmically erotic ^^! Interior doesn't do much for me, although the high-walled bridge section is a nice change from usual cramped spartanism. The crew's quarter is standard issue. As for the crew being too few for a ship of this size: If it be just a bulk freighter, and not a warship, I'd say it'd be mostly befitting to sport a small crew of five, since what do you need? Captain/engineer, one in charge of navigation and computers, some cargo-experst/engineers, one chief-engineer. Just look at the "Nostromo" freighter from the first "Alien"-movie, very much the same thing. That's all. So I think it fits very well. Quote
Norro Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Thanks for posting this... I gotta admit I like the interior the best, I love the horizontal fence walkway and the control room... Though I must admit in space terms I don't get out much, so I not be judging this as harshly as more experienced observers... God Bless, Nathan Quote

Big_X's post on CS states that it supposed to be a frigate. But still, I ain't complaining, it looks amazing. Quote
SuvieD Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Not my style. I like the clean and futuristic interior. The ship looks good from the front but not as much from the sides or back. The shape is weird but not bad and the greebs are done nicely and well thought out. Not enough studs showing again. It seems like the whole purpose of SNOT is hide studs instead of finding new ways to build. There are some really great techniques used in this but for other parts it seems like the only reason to use snot is simply to make it studless. Meh, personal taste. Quote
xenologer Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Lately I've been seeing ships that follow this trend, and it annoys me: It's built at 2 different scales! from the outside, its clearly a Very Large Microscale ship. (no, the windows do not count) but from the inside, its all hollowed out with a minifig scale interiour. Makes me think its more like a 'playset', you've seen hasbro toys like that -where a ship in a small scale unfolds to be an interiour section of itself... Quote

Yep, The new LEGO ISD is like that too, I absolutely despise it *n* Quote

jof Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 from the outside, its clearly a Very Large Microscale ship. (no, the windows do not count) I love microscale ships, you are free to create monster sized ships & its quite a challenge to avoid putting something minifig scale on it that messes up the apperance. To me, the design looks very original 'Homeworld', but hey I don't think thats a bad thing. (cross between a heavy cruiser & resource controller and yes I have spent too much time playing it) Jof Quote
optimus-convoy Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 This ship looks great! Brilliant SNOT work. Never thought of that, but it makes sense. Quote
snefroe Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 i wonder what people do with these big ships once they're built. it wouldn't take me long to canibalise the model for new mocs and i wouldn't think everybody has enough room to put it somewhere... Quote

You make a small ship (fighter / transport) and swosh that round the big ship, dock it in the docking bay, or mount an attack on it. Jof Quote
