SNIPE Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) hi what round thing can i use to replecate a disk brake i need a disk that is big and not really wide to go in the technik williams f1 car rims Edited April 4, 2011 by SNIPE Quote
DLuders Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 The 8461 "Williams F1 Team Racer" set uses the 22969 "Wheel 62mm D. x 46mm Technic Racing Large" (pictured below). There is one 4185 "Technic Wedge Belt Wheel (Pulley)" used in this set, so perhaps you could add four more for the "disk brakes". Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) The "Technic, disk 3x3" part may work as well: Edited April 5, 2011 by dhc6twinotter Quote
SNIPE Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 The "Technic, disk 3x3" part may work as well: ive tried them both and there too smsll Quote
DLuders Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 @ SNIPE: If you want a HUGE disk brake, you could use the 4750 "Fabuland Plate, Round 13 2/3 Stud Diameter - (Ferris Wheel Side, Merry-Go-Round Type 2 Base)" Seriously, though, you could use a 60474 "Plate, Round 4 x 4 with Pin Hole" with one or two 4032 "Plates, Round 2 x 2 with Axle Hole" stuck on it. nychase Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Just thinking out loud here. What if you used both the larger pulley and the smaller one (with the holes) Depending on which side you are trying to make "look" like the real thing the smaller pulley would look like a cross drilled rotor. Further, you might be able to put "pads" on the larger pulley to really finish the look. Large pulley Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 You may also try the "Technic, Disk 5 x 5 - Notched, No Pattern, WITH PIN" part. Quote
allanp Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Would this be too wide? http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/x403 Quote
SNIPE Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Would this be too wide? http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/x403 probably not i think ill use the silver technik disks 2 posts above unless there is something slightly taller but still sleek looking also is there some disk that i can use to put over the middle bit of the inside of the rim (rim image at top of page)?, it would require having a larger hole in the centre Edited April 5, 2011 by SNIPE Quote
DLuders Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) @ SNIPE: You know, you could get familiar with Bricklink.com's Parts Catalog, and look at all of the various "Disks", "Round" pieces, etc. You obviously don't know what is available, so you should make the effort to find out. "Seek and ye shall find". Instead of posing simple, basic questions here (and waiting hours/days for a reply), you can find out the answer yourself in about 5 minutes. There are no shortcuts to gaining a basic understanding of available Lego parts. Edited April 5, 2011 by DLuders Quote
Daedalus304 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Another option is to look through the Extended Mode of Lego Digital Designer - that can help you become familiar with a very large number of parts, and you can play around with them to see if they fit or look how you'd like. Here's how you can activate Extended Mode Whatever you end up doing, here's hoping you can find a piece that suits your needs! Quote
