DoubleT Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 So what do you think? I have a feeling for a 2-1 for Sweden Quote
snefroe Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 only watching with one eye i'm afraid, but i'll assume England wants to win this and Sweden didn't really do well last time so i'm thinking 2-1 for england or even 2-0 Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Just saw the results !! a beautifull 2-2 8- Quote
DoubleT Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Dont be so sure yoda... Germany have not impressed me.. and had a easy kvalifikation... Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Sweden will beat Germany but won't make it past Argentina ;) Quote
Sir Kohran Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 England played excellently in the first half, getting a pretty good goal, but then pulled their typical stunt and flopped back, instead of keeping up their attack, and let Sweden get in. What made it worse was Michael Owen's collapse within the first few minutes. Oh well; I suppose a draw is okay. Let's hope thingsg o better later on. Quote
snefroe Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Sweden will beat Germany but won't make it past Argentina ;) no, germany will beat them. they're playing home, they're in the winning mood and their game is very solid and well organised. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 But Germanay are at their worst since ten years ago ;) Quote
snefroe Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 But Germanay are at their worst since ten years ago ;) hm... with Klinsmann dealing the cards, the team has been revitalised. In fact, they've just come out of a serious crisis. I think they did terrible at the Eurpean Champs 2 years back... but they won't win the cup... Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 They did terribly 4 years ago, yest they still made it to the finals. It's not about skill, but about luck too. Germans always seem to get lucky in stoppage time ;-) Quote

But 2 years ago it was a very young new team, and their ambition was not the Euro but THIS World Cup ;-) I see the Germans very far in the competition (and maybe eeven with the cup ;-) ) I think that Germany has a beautiffull team !! *yoda* Quote

DoubleT Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Btw am i the only one that think its strange with a Brit as a ref in a game with Australia?.... Would be the same as Sweden having a Danish ref... FIFA does strange things Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 No you are NOT TT ;-) FIFA are darn retarded !! Since '98 (I can't really remember previous international competitions), each World Cup and Euros are filled and screwed by bad refs !! And that is just intolerable !! Mistakes are human, especially in the heat of the moment, but that many ?? That is pure CRAP >:-( Just a quick exemple: Korea in the final four in '02 - their last 3 games were "given" by crappy ref decisions (and exemples like that can be multiplied !!!!) We really need professional refs AND the video !! (hopefully since the lack of video really screwed France -yeayyyy- Platini might reconsider it - especially if France goes back home tomorrow *sweet* - GO TOGO !!) Oh well, it will be a never ending rant if the FIFA dudes don't react strongly and fast !! *yoda* Quote
snefroe Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Btw am i the only one that think its strange with a Brit as a ref in a game with Australia?.... Would be the same as Sweden having a Danish ref...FIFA does strange things i guess you are the only one! :-P first of all, these people get evaluations constantly. if they fool around, they won't get any new game to ref. also, the ref is part of a team of three (his two line instructors) and a fourth guy is standing by as well, so if he screws up, the others will have to share the consequences too my main concern, however, is that we've seen several attacks from one player to another that were not dealt with, not just a punch here and there, but also stepping on some one's arms or legs,... i don't think we've seen enough yellow and red cards so far, compared to the number of assaults we've seen... i'm also not impressed by the over all quality of the games we've seen and i think they should limit the number of participants in the future. Togo, Saudi-Arabia, Japan, US,... with all due respect, but they really have no business being there. But also several major soccer teams are really disappointing, like France, Brazil, Rep. of Czechia,... it seems to me that many super stars are struggling with a burn out because of a very loooooong season... In any case, many games have been boring... :-X Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Hey Sne, I really think you are harsh on the so called "small teams" !! Do remember that they each qualified in their geographical area, and if they are in the WC, they have earned their ticket there (unlike other "bigger" teams such as Camroun, Belgium and Denmark to only name a few ;-) ) Its one of the great aspects of International competitions like the WC or the OG, they are full of surpprises and they have a tendency to show that the spirit of those "small" countries are really strong and powerfull compared to the Mother Quote
