Henchmen4Hire Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 (edited) With criminals now having access to top of the line equipment and weapons, the Space Police need to make their ships faster, sleeker, stronger, burlier! Meaner! More brutaltastic! Capable of ramming into enemy ships and keep on ticking, behold the newest addition to the Space Police stable, the Brutalizor 5000! (I can't name ships, lol) Improved cannons, added weapons, modular cargo hold (for prisoners or equipment), larger interior, bigger engines that make enough noise to make a perp go deaf, this fighter is ready for almost any challenge! Driving it into a sun isn't recommended, but by golly we're almost sure you can do that too! ========= Okay, I'm not entirely happy with the side cannons or how the two missiles are attached, any ideas? Also, anyone know if it's possible to get "dark trans blue" in LDD? An I should probably add something to the top, but I don't know what, maybe some blue/red lights? brickmack Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Nice LDD ship. The top should probably have the police lights on it, and possibly some kind of communication antenna or something. Quote
Legostein Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hello! It reminds me a little to the Star Wars Freeco Speeder, but wider and nicely incorporated into the space police theme. You're using many wedge pieces, resulting in a slim design which suits the vehicle well. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Aanchir Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Bricklink's Transparent Dark Blue is officially just called Transparent Blue, so that's the name LDD uses. It doesn't have the same aesthetic as most Space Police III sets, where four wings or engines tends to be the norm, but that's OK. One thing that does bother me is that the center-rear section seems awfully plain. If you could work a dorsal fin back there it would be improved greatly. Nice police officer design, too. Dyna-Mite's face really works great as a Space Police officer with those futuristic sunglasses-- sort of like a female counterpart of the face print used in 5970 Freeze-Ray Frenzy. The color scheme also seems a bit plain (in a real set, obviously, there'd be stickers breaking up the large areas of white, but here that's not an option). Perhaps you could color the two center slopes in the front black, to create a central "racing stripe"? Likewise, the curved slopes on top of the two side engines could be colored black to continue the stripe created by the double-cheese-wedges above. Obviously, I can't test this for myself too easily so I can't verify whether this would be any improvement (it might not look as good as I'm imagining it, at least not from all angles). But you could try out this and other options to add more variety to these areas. Great and creative design work! I'm very impressed! Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) Thanks everyone :] Aw, dark blue just looks like regular blue in LDD, but at least I own the real piece to test it out. Bingo!, once I add stickers that should make the ship more interesting instead of so so very white. And to be honest, I had Darkwing Duck on my mind while building this so it might need a little more nudging in the Space Police direction An update, I tile and cheesed the front where the missiles connect. Here's a shot with a fin and racing stripe, like the red one on the Skull Interceptor (these space cops sure do like to taunt those Skull guys, lol): You can see a little gap at the rear between the hatch and fin, but I don't mind it: As for the shape of the fin....meh, lol. I like both of these, one is sharp and one is curved at the back. Sloped, matches the shape of the plane better: Sharp, looks... sharper: What do you legomaniacs think? Henchmen4Hire Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Aaaallriiiiight giggity! This ship is almost done, now I'm just waiting for a few interior pieces, 2 black cockpit pieces (to replace those white ones), and the white cones for the engines... which were only available in one set ever... 16 years ago... :( I've modified this since the LDD file pics: -Created "forked" nose, moved front white wedges apart to create a "4 wing" design -Removed missiles on sides and added "lights" there -Forward cannons can hinge to shoot in a wide arc -Need 2 more hole/vent stickers for the nose, like the ones on the wings And I think we need to call this something other than "Stinger", the design is way too aggressive now! Needs to be something like "The Stabber" or "The Pummels-You-in-the-Facer" lol Edited March 13, 2011 by DrNightmare Quote
Scorpiox Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 So you now have bought it from TLC and I bet it was satisfying to buy somthing you made! I like the rear it is reelly chunky and looks so cool, looks like it came in an actual set! Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Well, I bought it piece by piece from brickink, but yeah, this thing is so cool now that it's built! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I really like this personal spaceship a lot, particularly the sleek curvaceous overall design and the white-with-black-strips color scheme. It's really great to see this in real brickbuild, I'd say this is even better than any SP vehicle that TLG released. Impressive work DrNightmare! Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Sorry for the extremely late reply It's really great to see this in real brickbuild, I'd say this is even better than any SP vehicle that TLG released. Those are strong words, and much appreciated! I hope the new stuff I make is just as impressive Quote
