MOC+INS Forklift

[Hoexbroe]

Hi all,

I want to try something new; To publish instructions. -But I dont use LDRAW or any other computer based design, so I have made the instructions based on a series of photos. I hope everthing will be clear enough.

Firstly, the MOC itself;

1) The chasis/core;

2) Consisting of these pieces;

3) Assembly detail: The bracket and the hinge are "prisoners", and NOT conected using a stud-conection;

4) Next up, the main bodywork;

5) Consisting of these pieces;

6) Then, place the core inside the body. Must be like this;

7) Add the bottom detail (the big tile);

8) You should now have this;

9) Next, the details like motor, seat and controls, consisting of these pieces;

10) It must be put together like this;

11) Place the details on the main body;

12) Now, for the wheels. Axle-plates for 4-wides;

13) Should be like this;

14) Attach the wheels;

15) Roof details, consisting of these pieces;

16) It should be put together like this;

Now is a good time to install the minifig, as it will be more dificult later, with the roof on.

17) The roof should now be attached to the main body like this;

You must force the conections a bit! Force, press, force, press, force, etc. At the end it will be correctly lined up AND suficiently stable/strong to allow normal handling!

18) The fork part. Observe the picture well, in order to see the different parts. (next photo will show the same thing from the other side);

19) The two taps are important!

20) Insert the fork-part into the tower-part;

Turn the two taps 45º!

21) Attach the tower+fork part to the main body;

And... Finished!

Disclaimer; The fork+tower part has limited movements. The fork can only go up about half-way. If you want more funcionality you must adjust the design.

Here is the MOC again, in it´s "working" position;

Thank you for sharing your design 'Hoexbroe', but I see a problem it's back side is too low and that is one small fuel tank !

Apart from those faults it is an excellent SNOT job and great fork lift mechanism !

Now you are making me want to design a new fork lift of some description !

Really great MOCs Hoexbroe! I have to agree with "lt" on the "weight" section being a little short and small and a it needing a bigger tank. Whats its MAX lift capacity It does still look like the real thing though. I trying to figure out how the lift works. That looks much better than the 3-pc that TLG makes. The black is making it difficult for me to see all the pieces. Great job anyways!

Great looking model! It's like an enlightening SNOT tutorial for me :) I wonder how robust this construction is?

Oh wow, this is an amazing little build Hoexbroe! For some reason I have this thing for forklifts, and I must say your version has a very interesting design and is very well-done especially with the SNOT built of the body and the brickbuilt roof and fork. The truck and the engine (on your last shot) are nice builds too. And thanks for sharing the instructions. Great work!

It has been the first time that I have tried to share detailed instructions, and even for this small model (probably the smallest MOC I´ve ever done ;-) -ít´s been quite a new experience.

I am very happy when/if somebody decides to try their luck on a MOC based on this design. Please let me know what I should improve in the instructions. I´ll love to hear from you, and looking forward to see your versions!

Regarding critics; Yes, the fuel-tank looks smallish. I have already made a bigger one. It´s fairly simple, I wouldnt update the instructions just for that.

That the truck is low and small. Well, it IS a small truck. Forklifts comes in all size and shapes, and mine is definatly not too strange to look at. Anyway my MOC is a purely imaginative vehicle anyway...

I especially thank you guys, for your time to make constructive critisism. Anything that can help improve the model, the building tecnique, etc. is always welcome!

@Zeon; The model holds together rather well, but it is NOT for play, only for static display. (Thanks for noticing the truck. These MOCs are part of a rather BIG diorama not yet published...)
