I did search but did not find topic about this.

My question is that how you arrange your desk and storage , maybe a coach, and you will need a computer?

I am attaching my storage picture, actually I have another half. but I have problem of putting my desk.

currently my desk is in another side of the room (with computer). so when I building I have to go back and forth

many times..quite tiring..

I believe you guys have better solutions..

If there is room, you could try adding a portable folding table to your storage unit. I don't suppose you could move your computer table and storage unit closer together? It does sound like a pain to go back and forth for parts.

I've been most comfortable building on the floor my whole life, no matter how many messes I've made or how many times my parents have tried encouraging me to use a table. I'm sure I'll suffer plenty of joint pain later in life from all the time I've spent squatting or kneeling.

During my childhood I had a computer desk which I used for my LEGO software, particularly LEGO Studios and Mindstorms. But I didn't spend much time building there, and the only storage for actual parts associated with this desk was a cabinet next to it, where my brother and I kept the "props" we had built for our various LEGO Studios films. There's also currently a table in the basement where my family keeps our parts-- however, the tabletop tends to be clogged with various bins and other things, and is rarely used for building. The actual storage drawers we use (pretty much the same kind as in your picture) line the walls around this table. Usually, though, the floor between the table and the drawers is my family's building space.

Building desk?Oh you mean my lap,yes I have one of those.

At least untill the moc falls apart in my hands cause I forgot to strengthen its weak middle and end up dropping the whole thing on the floor, where it shatters and I get to try to remember how it went together.

I currently live in a tiny apartment with too little space for my LEGO collection, but I hope to move into a substantially more spacious place with my girlfriend at the end of the summer. I've thought about a dedicated LEGO desk / table / storage system for a long time, though most of my thought has gone toward the arrangement I'd like to have in my dream home one day, not the space(s) I'll be living in for the near future. We'll see how it goes.

In the meantime, I mostly put assemble things while sitting on the bed. Ah, well.

Hi there, I spend most of my time at our home, we have a study where there is a few desks and some old school drawers which I use for storage and building, but now we have a nice big shed with plenty of bench space to work on, but I will be using the small bench on the left primarily for building.

I currently build here

No light or heating in our conservatory so day time building only, at other times I have to carry boxes of bits into the living room.

(Notice the tray nearest the camera where I have been rooting MB's out of my collection)

My plan is to have this as my build shed

Needs a good tidy and again no light or heating yet, but I am hoping to rig something up.

LEGO Building Shed has progressed!! :classic:

S8304216.jpg

Had a good tidy up, fitted some Ikea shelving lights and put up a couple of small shelf units under the desk for storage and a couple of selves for small models

The shed has no electricity so I have to run an extension lead from the garage whenever I am in there but that's not too much os a hastle, it's nice to have somewhere to hide.

Most of my Lego is sorted into platic tubs and stored under the desk with the smaller pieces in little boxes and a small draw unit on the desk.

I picked up two of these: Vika Table Top

and one of these: Vika Corner Tbale

I used the basic Curry legs, but there are alot of other cool options out there. I also picked white, since my LEGO room is in my basement, so I wanted light colors in addition to a contrasting surface. (Black table tops and Black LEGO don't play well together).

No I don't... I've got something better. It's called...

A kitchen table and a floor :hmpf: ... I'm in desperate need of a desk, but I haven't come across the right one yet, and custom furniture builders are so expensive. I think I'll stick with the floor though, it's big!

I have a 3'x3' card table with foldable legs that I pull out of the closet when I have a project. If I'm just working with minifigs, I use my computer desk.

I build on the floor (which is carpeted). I've thought about having a desk several times but can't find anything that would work well. I have a bedroom dedicated for my Lego building area. There are various city and monorail layouts on the floor but no furniture, so I have lots of room to spread things out.

I always use up increasingly large amounts of space when building MOCs. I often take pieces out of my storage bins, find them unsuitable for what I wanted to do, but keep them in sight since I think I might use them later on the MOC. Eventually, my immediate work area gets cluttered and I move back to give myself more room. After repeating this a few times, I have taken up far more space than any desk would provide.

I do use my dining table for building sets though, where the space is less of an issue.

This is my Lego desk area:

Lego storage - workspace by tikitikitembo, on Flickr

But in reality, I still build on my lounge room floor (for a few reasons, it is easier for a couple of us (kids/hubby) to build at the same time, it isn't so isolated from everyone, it is more comfortable, and my Lego desk is often covered in Lego (so not enough space to build).

I am thinking of getting a garage work bench, because it is higher and larger (so I can stand and build), but I am getting it more specifically as a stop motion filming area (something like this: workbench.

I posted this in the storage and sorting thread earlier. I didn't realize this thread existed. Here is my desk. I just put up these shelves above it a couple weeks ago.

That's because I snuck into your house and photographed it, and then photoshopped it into my house. :)

I got the shelves from Home Depot, probably the same place you did.

We probably started buying them at the same time. Everyone gets the modular buildings, right? It's like required to be an AFOL or something. Like other people, I was in a dark age for the first 3 or so buildings (Cafe Corner, Market Street, Green Grocer). Sometimes I check prices for them on BL and eBay, but it's just too pricey.
