def Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 In order to improve the quality of games here, I want to start a discussion of how scum think (feel free to start your own town tactics thread). One of the most obvious tactics is to target away from scum. For example, if a townie votes for scum, that townie is safe. To kill them is to draw attention to their accusation. As an advanced technique, scum would kill that townie, claiming that as evidence of innocence. No scum would deliberately draw attention to themselves like that. The idea of this thread is to show the logic of scum. If you have been scum here or elsewhere, please share your thinking, in order to help new players, and to challenge yourself to do something different.
The Legonater Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I recall in Dystopia when I was the Night Killer, I did a flipped version of the (doomed) tactics I used in the day. Targetting people who would be framed from the kill.

Targetting people who would be framed from the kill. I could've sworn we waited for Dragonator to tell us who to kill! I do think that trying to frame a townie by killing another townies they argued with is a poor technique; no townies in their right mind would vote off someone based on the evidence that someone who argued with a deceased townie.
Sisco Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 If I ever play scum, I'll let you know. That's interesting, seeing as most 'Anti-Meta-Gaming' rules I've seen specifically mention not to kill you on night one....
Shadows Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 most 'Anti-Meta-Gaming' rules I've seen specifically mention not to kill you on night one.... Most being ... one? You need to get out more. And it didn't even say that, it said to kill me, then struck it out and said not to metagame. Oh, and I wasn't even scum in that game.
The Legonater Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 And it didn't even say that, it said to kill me, then struck it out and said not to metagame. Oh, and I wasn't even scum in that game. It's good advise nonethless Another, poor, scum tactic would be to meta game and kill the big people. At least then they don't win

I've seen maybe three anti-metagaming rules, and as 1/3 isn't 'Most', I'm allowing for exaggeration, thus proving that I'm right. . Now that you've seen my flawed logic, I have to say that I'm just joking, and Shadows would never be metagame'd. . Okay. I've got that out of my system. Sorry for getting slightly off-topic there, I just had to prove the Scary Madmin wrong.
