Sir Dillon Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Well, the picture is kind of bright so I guess it could be hard to tell, but Yoda is not trying to hoodwink you, Phes. ;-) This is the best picture I could find: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tilius/T...ir/100_2461.jpg Not a grey pic, but I believe that it shows that it is indeed light grey, and not white. xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Light bluish-grey? AYE CARUMBA!!! I badly need a new monitor unless Armada Yoda is trying hoodwink me! Those pictures make the walls look white to me! Are there any other pictures of this set in different lighting conditions? I wouldn't do anything like that !! Yeay I agree that the lighting of the pic is bad !! From the box art, you see that its not white (even if the pic is kind of crappy !!) I'm about 80% purist - the other 20% gives way to newer pieces (should they be suitable) to allow for innovation. I don't want to be 100% purist and remain in the past, rather I'd prefer to utilise the newer pieces that work well with the older pieces. I.e. they don't stand out too much. However, I don't think a light bluish-grey Imperial MOC would be appropriate. However when I wrote "you" in the previous post, I wrote that as a generalist remark ;-) I agree that there are loads of ways to use new parts instead of whinning like crazy (<insert that tiresome argument> parts, change of colours... I am so sick of those rants !!) and I love those walls. Like I said previously, they can be used for nearly every theme ;-) Why don't you think that light bluish grey would be inappropriate for Imperial Mocs ?? Do you think that Armada/Imperial MOCs should be exclusively executed in white ? *yoda* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2006 Governor Posted June 22, 2006 This is the best picture I could find: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Tilius/T...ir/100_2461.jpgNot a grey pic, but I believe that it shows that it is indeed light grey, and not white. Excellent work Sir Dillion! Why don't you think that light bluish grey would be inappropriate for Imperial Mocs ?? Do you think that Armada/Imperial MOCs should be exclusively executed in white ? It depends on the nature of the Imperial MOC. If the builder (such as I) is trying to create something in the style of the original LEGO Imperial Guard sets then I'd say no, definitely not. The LEGO Company has already established the colour theme which is primary white and yellow with red roofs. So if these castle walls were white then perhaps despite their design they'd still look the part. However, the colour they are is just not the right colour for an authentic Imperial Guard structure. If the MOC builder was building a creation that didn't conform to any past desgin style then it wouldn't really matter. By all means use these bluish grey walls and leave more white and yellow for me! The Imperial Armada theme however... The LEGO Company only produced the one structure, Armada Sentry and this seemed to introduce grey into the design. So perhaps in a larger scale creation the bluish grey pieces could work with an Imperial Armada creation. Having never seen these pieces in the real world its difficult to say how effective or suitable they would be. Quote
