happymark Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 what will you do with the broken pieces? just throw it away immediately ? or keep it for some future 'illegal' building? or if it has some 'bites' on it, would you consider it as 'spoken'? Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Broken or chewed gets binned I have lost a great amount of lego when I was little because of chewing it If you have a broken piece which is still okay to use, then dont throw it away. (it could come in handy) but if it is badly broken and it's impossible to use, then the obvious thing to do it to get rid of it. Quote
Marckeyh Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I only want good quality pieces in my collection, so the broken ones go straight in the bin. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I have a small box of broken parts that I use for testing the effects of various glues, paints and cleaning fluids on the ABS of Lego. It saves my good bricks from danger and saves my feelings of waste for throwing it out. Quote
Legostein Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Hello! If I stumble over a broken piece I donate it to the recycling bin, so one day there might be parts of it in new bricks again. Chewed parts should not exist in my parts collection, as biting a brick is an absolute no-go for me. Some might hide somewhere, however, when I bought used bricks. Yellowed pieces is another problem. I don't throw away these, but sort them out in a special little box. I save them up until I can use them somewhere in the interior of a model where no one can see the yellowing. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I still have uses for broken pieces in my collection, so I don't dispose them and just put them in a separate container. Like Peppermint, I use these for customization purposes mostly for testing of paints. Some interesting broken pieces might also be useful in other MOCs. Quote
TheWarden Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I think someone once took some chewed pieces and sanded them with sandpaper by hand all flat sides for a different texture / shade. Quote
The Soup Nazi Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I usually do what Pepperment_M does, I test with them. Now, what do I do with a bunch of scratched lego pieces? (when I was little, my mom made me put my legos in the basement and they got all scratched up) Quote
Aanchir Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I used to keep most broken pieces so that I'd see them in the future and remember to buy replacements from Bricklink. But most of the time I never did, so I suppose that's only a good strategy if you follow through on it. Quote
