Murdoch17 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) I know that people have done this to an Emerald Night before, but I thought it would be interesting if I made it into black, with some certain modifications. AKA: A wrap-around bolier, and this part: for the number plate. Anyway, I have done this in real life, but until I get real pictures, the LEGO Digital Designer pics will have to suffice... for now. Here are the links: No.1 Is an overall view No.2 Is a front / side shot, but without drivers due to lack of parts in LDD No. 3 The full side shot. I even added a custom 3 wheel tender. No. 4 This part has since been changed to a better design that includes a gauge piece. No.5 Mini shot orginally done by Herby's New LEGO Train Depot. I redid it in black, with "No.1" on it's side. Thanks, and Comments + Questions welcome. Edited November 17, 2010 by Murdoch17 Quote
Murdoch17 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Posted November 19, 2010 Okay: I changed the number plate on this engine to this one. It looks a lot better now... I just don't have enough of this parts! Thank goodness for Bricklink! Here are updated LDD pics: Enjoy! P.S. I am the one in the glasses, in case your wondering. Quote
Carefree_Dude Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 replace the plates at the base of the train with red, so you have a red line going all the way around the bottom above the wheels. I built a black emerald night with this, and it looks amazing. Quote

(I did that to my first Emerald Night!) I did do your idea to my Diesel engine, though. Thank You, and I've included the diesel engine's picture. Quote
Cinderbike Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) It looks nice, but I think that red or another color wheel would look awesome too. BTW, I prefer the name Onyx Night over Black Emerald Night, if only to continue the naming scheme. I'm considering a Ruby Night, myself. Edited December 1, 2010 by Cinderbike Quote

Onyx Night kinda has a nice ring to it. Thank you! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Glad I found this page. I am currently constructing The Black Knight as I call it. Named not only bc of its color but for fun reference from the Martin Lawrence movie 'Black Knight' :) Unfortunatly the sticker will still say Emerald tho no green is used. Need to find a place to make custom stickers. As soon as I get a new camera I will try and post pics with it along side of my Emerald Night and my black version and green version of my My Own Train engines and tenders. Onyx Night does sound good as well. Great idea, hope you can try to create one! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Greetings everyone. I have completed an actual black version I call the "Black Knight" and uploaded it to Brickshelf Search for member Cityslicker and click on folder named "Collection" for views of it next to the original E. Night, as well as green and black MOT engines. Enjoy! Quote

I did a Ruby Night, and it's really nice (except I haven't done pin striping). Onyx or Obsidian Night are definitely my choices. Quote
