I used sail combos myself a few times :-) I think this particular sail combo doesn't look bad - it's just black, blue and white on those sails. Pirates were often known for their offbeat taste when it came to appearance, so those sails look credible to me. If this were a soldiers' ship, it would look bad (even if it didn't have that big Jolly Roger :-) ), but it sort of fits the pirates.
