OneSnowTrooper Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 (edited) Although I read most of the reviews here on EB my main focus is LSW sets and till know I have stick with it. But after reading the review of the IFS I'm really tempted to buy it on S&H. My concern is that I will regret the purchase because it's so much different then LSW.....or is it really that impressive ? Edited July 26, 2010 by OneSnowTrooper Quote
Captain Genaro Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I think that it is one of the best Lego sets ever. It is big and expensive but has tons of play features and detail. It could have used some more minifigs but almost every set could. It is a huge investment so if you really don't care about pirates I would not get it. If you are looking into pirates, this is a great set to buy if you have the money. Quote
Piratedave84 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 The parts inthe set can be reused otherwise, I have seen somewhere a dude which had made an impressive MOD almost a MOC with the IFS and turned it into some crazy looking sail barge type vessel with engines and wings, it was pretty cool and could easily fit in some kind of expanded universe pirate ship or "space galleon" of some sort. I have 2 and they are AWESOME!!!! Pirate Quote
Tycho McKorley Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Back in the day, I bought a Legends version of the Black Seas Barracuda even though Pirates really wasn't my "thing." I bought it because I considered that set to be a classic. The beauty of that set really inspired to open myself up to another theme. I recommend buying the IFS if only because it's a set I predict will be a classic, just like the BSB. Who knows? Maybe it will broaden your building horizons too. Quote
OneSnowTrooper Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 thnx for the input, I will buy 1. I see there are 8 positions for cannons and 4 are in the set. searched BL for another 4 but i see different colors, can you tell me what color scheme the cannons are in this set? now I also have to find more soldiers on BL for this beauty! The easiest thing to do is to click on the catalog entry for the set, there should be a link when you click on the picture, then click on 'inv' for inventory and that will tell you everything. Here's the link 10210 Inventory But the short answer is pearl dark gray for the cannons and red for the bases. Quote
FelixTheCat Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Here you go. Has a soldier and a cannon. 4 of these and you're ship should be nice and full. We've got the IFS sitting on a high dresser in front of a lamp in the babies room. Looks very impressive at nighttime when there are no other lights on with the white sails backlit by the lamp. It's a great looking set just as a model sailing ship. Definately a future classic. Quote
OneSnowTrooper Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 thanks for the input, I will order the 4 sets with the ship. Quote
vynsane Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 thanks for the input, I will order the 4 sets with the ship. HA! So it begins... you began this topic unsure of whether or not you're even going to buy the IFS, and now you're buying it along with four Pirates battle packs ;) For the record, my brother and I had a LOT of Classic Pirate stuff as a kid - the Barracuda, Caribbean Clipper, Forbidden Island, Eldorado Fortress etc... it's a REALLY fun theme. Governor Mister Phes Posted July 31, 2010 Governor Posted July 31, 2010 thanks for the input, I will order the 4 sets with the ship. Pirate LEGO tends to get addictive - you might end up getting yet more sets sometime in the future. So I can add to my addiction... Which equals Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Congrats OneSnowTrooper. I must admit, I was once an LSW-exclusive collector, and it was the return of the Pirates theme that broke me free. (Warning: If you follow my lead, you'll get frustrated by the Pirate line cancellation and then immerse yourself in City by January, haha) Quote
Sirius Black Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Pirate LEGO tends to get addictive - you might end up getting yet more sets sometime in the future. Which equals :pir-laugh: :pir-laugh: I can just see a cross of Lego Pirates and Star Wars... Probably be a form of steampunk, but it would be interesting.... Imperial Star Flagship anyone? Quote
