Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I'm trying to build a ship in LDD, but since LDD doesn't allow the old hulls in regular mode or in LU mode, how would I design my ship around the missing pieces?

Build one out of bricks using 1x2 and 2x2 slopes!

I made one for my upcoming frigate and it works quite well, use the proportions and dimensions from bricklink or from an existing piec if you have one. Then when you build the actual model you can just replace the slopes by the hull pieces

I agree with Piratedave84. Build the bow using other bricks, and then substitute at build time. I use different colored bricks for the substitute bricks, and also make them into a group for easy selecting.

Tip: there is a topic at the LDD forum where you can share custom/substitute parts.

From what I've heard, TLG are adding lots more bricks for LDD 4.0 which is due for release in September. We'll see if they'll add the bow, but I'm hoping so.

If understand correctly, any brick/part available in LEGO Digital Designer is something the LEGO Group currently manufacturers?

The back Gallery and the ships bow are always the hardest one to make in LDD, but i have found my way to do it and i have to say, im totally happy whit it, and couse we havent those ship hulls in LDD i use black 1x2 abd 1x3 slope pieces to make my bow, you can always go to check my LDD Frigate HMS Mary Queen (Wich is WIP yet) In my Brickself, click here

Sry but i have only one pic of it, ill try to take more pics soon if i can

I'm still so confused. Piratedave84 and Superkalle, I think those will help.

Mister Phes, yeah, it's only parts currently manufactured.

Captain Becker, I like the ship, but the stern (hull area) looks a little flat, and not rounded like in the piece I'm looking for. The front looks great though!!

Ok, I guess it's time for experimentation.
