Hey all,

I've recently picked up 8877 and 8777 of the KK2 line. I just wanted to get Lord Vladek's castle and the horse barding. But now I find myself with 5 colored knights, and I am not sure how to incorporate them into my lego castle world. They seem so out of place, with their bright colors.

I was thinking of building a manor type of structure for them, and have them be a band of "knights" who drink and sing, and speak of heroic tales that they may or may not have done.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

Knights that were in jousting tournaments often wore lavish clothes of many different colors. They would have their armor painted to match their tunics. Having these unique colors allowed them to be identified during the tournament, much like sports teams have uniforms that they wear when they compete. That's about the only practical use I can think of for the brightly colored knights and their armor.

Perhaps they could be actors in an outdoor theatre performance? That would explain the exaggerated/comical colors in a castle setting.

I always enjoyed using the green knight from KKII as the knight from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Of course, later on they put a monkey the green knight's armor and that really ruined the effect.

All of mine became peasants as their torsos are blank. The armor and extras I sold off or have them sitting around in a bin somewhere. The tournament idea is a good one and if nothing else they can be used as statues for corridors, town square, or a garden.

You can mix the colored armor with black or gray torsos and helmets to tone down the colors on the knights and make them look more realistic like I did with my avatar pic.

... how about target practice? There's six catapults in the new Kingdoms line, 7 archers, 8 spearmen, and 2 portcullises... a lot of target practice...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've built a manor for the knights, and filled it with many kegs of beer and food. I've decided to base them off of the Knights of Thorn (Elder Scrolls IV). "Fancy" knights that don't do much, except talk a big game, and get in the way :)

I often see them as nice parade or 'party' armours for high rankes knights in the king's court, either worn by minifigs or displayed in the castle halls.

I think KK2 knights can only be useful as some kind of Power Rangers (if such a thing can have any use)

Oh, wait...

Maybe it could work as some Manga RPG kind of fantasy

I've considered that, however the KKII armour and printing looks far too space-like for my tastes. The vibrant colours along with the odd geometric patterns just don't work for me. The visors are also extremely futuristic looking and while I can try and work them into my castle environments I think Norro's solution is the best. Avoid using these guys at all costs. The green guy (Rascus?) had a nice torso print in the first year, but beyond that most of the KKII figs were pretty hideous.

My suggestion: try and trade them with some space fans for something useful.

Don't what, Norro? No target practice or not use them? I'm slightly confused.

Don't use them at all. I have only once used the a portion of them, a visor in a space MOC (my first), beyond that I only think of them as a source of interesting hand colours...

God Bless,

Nathan

Since I only have two I use them as heros. Once I get Vladek's Dark Fortress I'm going to use them as a Power Rangers faction that do a bunch of silly things in a castle world.
