Does anyone have any idea what is going to happen with this set when the rest of the Pirates line is finished? I know it's part of the line so it would make sense for it to go also, but it has only been out for half the time as the rest of the sets and it seems like too great of a set to only have around for 1 year.

So will this one be gone later this year?

most of the exclusive sets stick around for more than a Year I think. I recently bought an exclusive set (green grocer) wich came out in 07. It's still available at this moment. So for the following year I think your good :pir-sweet: (since 10210 is an exclusive set)

The Imperial Flagship is a D2C set (Direct to Customer) and not part of the regular Pirates line. As a rule of thumb I can say these D2C sets say around for 2 years.

And on that note, I wouldn't wait too long, as I don't really see TLG doing another large scale ship for a while, being that pirates is no more, for the meantime.

Wasn't it confirmed in the initial press release the Imperial Flagship was to have a 2 year production run?

As far as I remember the press release only mentioned the availability date.

:pir-angry: which person or persons?, I have to break their legs, to reactivate the pirate theme? :pir-angry:

:pir-laugh: :pir-laugh: :pir-laugh:

not serious, apart from petitions and signatures, which actually can be done to revive the pirate theme :pir_bawling:

I didn't trust that it would stay around long, as soon as it was in stock and I had money at the same time this summer, I bought it. As was said about green grocer (which I still haven't picked up!) sometimes they stick around for a long time, so I guess it is kind of a game when deciding when is the last possible time to buy it.

...also, I think price may have something to do with how long it will sty in stock on their shelves...

for example, even if they made twice as many of the cannon battle set, that will sell out long before, since its a good army builder, and cheap. But not nearly as many people can just pay out almost $200 for 1 pirate ship.

That I believe is why some of these sets last awhile.

...even so, Im making plans to buy it soon!

Mine is in the mail! Yay! But I stupidly had not checked the Lego Store website for almost two years... when I did this weekend and found out that there were not just one store in my area but two!!!! A year and a half ago we had none! So I went this weekend, and both stores had five of these on their shelves. Unfortunately they did not have anything else but a few Brickbeards Bountys (I did get one though!) left. Still, I would get this set sooner than later.

I had similiar stupidity. I completely overlooked the fact that the Imperial Flagship may actually be sold in retail stores.

Of course eventually it was and at the sale price of $199 (usually $270 in these parts). So I've learnt the hard way to keep an eye on these things.

And for Australians...

I contacted Myer and they said they might be getting more Imperial Flagships around Christmas time for $199. However, I was only talking to a regular sales assistant so this information is by no means a confirmation.

I've seen that as of this weekend, the IFS is now available in the U.S. from both the TRU and Target web sites. No word on if they'll actually show up in retail stores themselves, but I'd doubt it. Such a high-priced specialty set could sit on the shelves for awhile, so why over-stock it if the diehard fan will just chase it down online?

I must admit, I've been holding out with this one for several reasons: 1. I was hoping I might be able to catch it with a sale or discount, and 2. I've only recently partially disclosed my AFOL tendencies to my wife, and the price tag might be too much for her to understand/tolerate.

LOL! Actually, when I got married last year, I made sure that my wife-to-be understood exactly what she was getting herself into. While she did significantly reign in my Lego spending, at least I can still pursue my hobby.

ROFL. Closet AFOLs FTW!
