Kikuichimonji Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Hey guys, I've been looking for some of the 'newer' colors lately to use in MOCs. I don't own lots of these since I got most of my Lego as a kid. They are in my SW sets but those are display only. Ordering off Bricklink all the time will get my parents pissed, so can anyone recommend me some good parts packs for the following colors (for space MOCs ;-) ) Blue (not an old color but I don't own enough parts that are useful for space MOCs) Orange Lime Sandblue Sandgreen Yellow (see blue) Preferably not too expensive, around 20 euro (about 25 dollar I guess). I'm particulary interested in orange. Thanks in advance :-) Quote
jonfett Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Well, here are some basic colour parts packs. Lego S@H Blue part packs. Lego S@H Yellow part packs. For orange pieces you have the.. Lego S@H Pumpkin Pack Lego S@H 3D Pumpkin Pack I have not had a big search for the other colours yet, but for now here are the piece lists from Bricklink. Lime parts. Sand Blue parts. Sand Green parts. Hope this helps, Jon. Quote
snefroe Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 think i'd go for a bucket. some are filled with orange, green,... bricks Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Did a piece check on BL already. Thanks anyway. I'm not looking for 'standard' bricks, but for parts actually useful for space MOCs. And I dislike buying buckets. Can anyone advise any sets? Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Did a piece check on BL already. Thanks anyway. I'm not looking for 'standard' bricks, but for parts actually useful for space MOCs. And I dislike buying buckets. Can anyone advise any sets? The method your asking about is far too expensive for most fans. It simply isn't possible to amass a large quantity of unique elements in the colours you've mentioned by simply purchasing sets. Moreover, the number of unique elements you end up with is likely to be quite limited. Certainly, sets like Bounty Hunter Pursuit (7133) and Slave I (6209) would appeal to someone in your position. Unfortunately, the former set is discontinued, and the later set is quite expensive for the paltry amount of sand green you acquire. Think of it this way. For every element in a colour your looking for, your likely to end up with ten or more in a colour you don't want. Additionally, many of the bricks featured in colours you want may not be useful to you. At the end of the day, you could end up spending $1000s of dollars just to acquire a moderate collection of useful elements in the colours your looking for. Today there are simply too many colours and too many elements to actively accumulate a decent collection of the more obscure colours. Ironically, in your effort to do so, you will undoubtedly end up with an impressive collection of the more mundain colours, like grey (bley), black, red, etc.. Still, good luck on your search. Later. SuvieD Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Bricklink is still your best option. It will take some time but go through the catalogue and add parts to your want list in the colors and for the prices you are willing to pay. Then whenever you are looking to get more parts simply look at your want list by store and buy some. If you want to be safe simply put yourself on a one purchase per week/month and limit how much you will spend. This will keep you from over spending. Used parts are obviously cheaper but many of the bulk sellers have good prices for new and used. Just stick to your want list and you will have an easy time finding what you are looking for. Here is a list of stores I have always found to have good prices for much of what you are looking for. DEN GER US US FRA GER US US If you are still not finding what you are looking for let me know in a PM. I am sure we can work something out. I have many odd colored pieces in bulk that I have gotten dirt cheap and would be willing to share some with you. Shipping from the US can be expensive at times though so I recommend trying BL stores based in Europe. 1000steine for cheap bulk and El Lutzo for free shipping specifically. Quote
xenologer Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Flame Glider from Racers Tiny Turbos theme has some very nice orange curved slope pieces. As well as some orange plates. It's an older set, so it might be hard to find. Or you might get lucky like me and find it on clearance. I got 4 of them for 1.9$ USD each at Fry's Electronics. Uplink from Exo Force has 2 orange slopes, but probably is a bit much for just 2 pieces unless you specifically want them for a nose piece or somthing important. Exo Force Hero Tank looks like it will have a good number of organge pieces, but it's not released yet, and is probably going to be expensive... Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 I have one Flame Glider, looked for another last week, but they were all gone. I also have the Uplink, which does indeed not have a lot of nice orange pieces. And I'll get the Hero Tank too ;-) Anyway, I'll just go and order off BL...and occasionally buy sets. Thanks for the help guys :-) Quote
gylman Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I have recently learned, thanks to Jamie75 who sold me a huge batch of sets, that Sea Riders 4402 is an excellent blue parts pack. The 4 universal joints and large number of tiles are just gravy. High recommended and often available at discounts or low price in eBay. Quote
