5150 Lego Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 There's been alot of discusion about a few techinic sets in the last recent weeks, so i was going to do a review on a couple, as i was also asked to give my opinion by a couple of memebers on some older sets i bought . Butone thing i've noticed is thatit seems that all the mods have done the full reviews. Is a regular memeber allowed to do a review,or is this a mod only thing? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Though iv'e been here a couple months, i don't want to break any rules. Quote
snefroe Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 if you want to do a review, go ahead. The brickster has done several reviews and he's not a mod nor admin. the reason why Bloody Jay and Yoda have made lots of reviews is because those lucky ******** always seem to be the first to getting their hands on new lego sets.... You can even do an unprofessional review if you want :-P just make it very clear in your title it's a review Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 5150 Lego, of cousre reviews are intented to be made by who wants to do them !!! There are absolotly NO rules here concerning reviews ;-) So if you want to do reviews, enjoy, and we'll be glad to watch them ;-) Happy reviewing !!! *yoda* Quote
Vader Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 The more reviews the better i say, i would rather read say 3 reviews of one set rather than just one this helps when thinking of wheather or not to by a set and gives you a more veried opinion. Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I have the feeling your wishes will be fullfilled *vader* with the coming out of Batman sets !!!! Now lets see who has the best pics X-D :-P *yoda* Quote
5150 Lego Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 Great! I'm working on a few reviews of some techinc sets i bought. Hopefully they come out good ! Quote
Zane Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Um..... BJ's reviews got pinned, but my Brutaka and Lord Vladek reviews didn't. Just because they're not as aniticipated they're still new sets. Not to sound like an annoying child though. TT Quote

Just because they're not as aniticipated they're still new sets. Not to sound like an annoying child though. TT Mostly, Phes watches over Castle/Pirates, and Bionicle is for Jinzo (who, at the moment, is MIA). I'll head over and pin them for you. As far as my opinion on the topic, of course everyone should be able to do photo reviews. However, a lot of the ones I've seen lately have been of some pretty old sets that aren't in stores any more. This doesn't make much sense to me; my original intent with the photo reviews was to either encourage or discourage the community from buying a new set. In my opinion, maybe restricting it to recent sets would be a good idea. Edited March 15, 2006 by Bloody Jay Quote

One was for a set that is curently in stores, and was released summer of last year. The other two are discontinued sets. The set still in stores has had different likes and dislikes by differnt members, and thought a picture review would help clear up some of those issues. I recently bought the two discontinued sets, and wasaskedby a couple of memebers if i could share my opinions on them. Both sets are seem to demand a high price on bricklink and other related sites, so they wanted somefeed back before there final desicion. I don't expect the them to be pinned, just wanted tohelp out some fellow EB memebers. :-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 5150 Lego, Feel free to do reviews of all sets you want to review (current or discontinued !!). I enjoy reviews of discontinued sets I missed because of my dark ages like Wild West or Pirates. Happy reviewing ;-) *yoda* Quote

ApophisV Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Yeah, even if some sets aren't available at normal toy stores some might think of getting them from Ebay or Bricklink or whatever sources they might have. For those people reviews of old sets sure are a great idea. Not to mention that some of us are wise enough to feel happy to see their childhood sets once again suddenly appearing here... *wub* Not everything that is "in" or recently released has to be good and the only thing you can focus on! BTW, forgot to add: Aredhel and me will try to rebuild all the sets I ever had (mostly space from Blacktron 1 up to Ice-Planet, Pirates and Castle) when we find the time, I think I'll make some pictures of them then! ;-) Quote

ApophisV Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Actually I did already this four years ago or so and took the sets apart after one year of display. So I still know which sets I own. But my last try was based on my own instruction booklets and those dutch instruction scan page, this time I know of Peeron, Brickset and Bricklink, so hopefully there are some sets I'll be able to rebuild which I hadn't the last time! Peeron gave Aredhel and me great hints which sets could hide in Aredhel's box of parts and we were able to resurrect some cool things (1592!), hopefully we will find some treasures amongst my collection as well! ;-) Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 I'd love to write a review, trouble is I never get sets early enough :-( Quote
